This is a discussion on Hip issue, strengthen it? within the Aches, Pains, and Injuries forums, part of the The Clinic category; I would come see you Matt, but alas I can't afford to travel like that....

It has, and I have a whole new lower back issue. I bought some custom orthotics for my shoes as my feet are really flat and have no arch.
I'm having some pretty bad hip pain, I've had somewhat bad hips and pains for a while. After a tournament last weekend, 4 games in 3 days, I have been in a state of constant pain or just uncomfortable, a 4 out of 10 on the pain scale and it jumps to a 7/8 getting in and out of the truck at work. Anybody else have this problem or any thoughts? I was thinking it was just my hip flexors.
what part of your hips, Inferno? Hips encompasses your groin (hip adductor), front (hip flexors), side (hip abductor/glutes) and back of the leg (glutes).
Foam roll all parts of your hips, and stretch. Google hip stretches for goalies and you'll find lots of stuff, but you're going to want to hit those parts.
And for strengthening the hips, you can't do anything better than back squats below parallel. You certainly don't need cable machines for that.
The pain is is in the front, my hips use to lock up then pop but they haven't done that in a while. I can cross my feet to hook them together, pull apart and my tailbone will pop and give me relief. I will look into those stretches, thank you.
and foam roll your flexors (or use a lacrosse ball).
Ok, thanks
