Default My left knee - semi sore, stiff feeling

I have this pain/stiffness in my left knee. It's not particularly painful, it's very a slight pain. But it really feels like there's pressure there, like a knuckle that needs to be cracked. It's on the inside of the leg, not in the knee cap or anything. I've felt it the last couple games, and I just this morning started to wear my tensor on it just trying to give it a little more support.

I have no idea what it could be, and I'm not too concerned. I just don't want it to get worse, or be a sign of something worse to come.

I had something very simular to this and it turned out to be the muscle that runs from the outside of the hip down and across the front of the thigh to the inside of the knee. I had aggrivated the hip part and it tensed up which pulled on it which in turn pulled on the kneee which made it sore and felt abit tense on pulled the knee abit to make it also feel like it needed to be cracked like a knuckle.

The muscle is called the "Satorius" and here is a pic so you can see where it is located.

Now I am no doctor or therapist but what you described was very simular to what i had and with some theraputical massage and proper streching of it it went away within a few weeks.

Interesting! That looks like a tough one to stretch. I'm not paying for massage unless it gets real bad.

So after 15 days of rest, as soon as I put my gear on last night the pain was back. Played the game and now it's a little sore.

I've been doing some more research and it may be an MCL issue. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to repair this, my first attempts are going to strengthen the knee area. Going to ask Maria about the best way to go about it without wrecking it more.

    Default Knee pain.

I injured both MCLs last Feb. when my defenseman pushed an opposing forward on top of me while I was down trying to cover a loose puck. If you saw Boucher's injury in playoffs v. Bruins then you saw exactly what happened to me. I'm 55 btw.
I've been trying to strengthen my knees in gym for last several months .Tried a stick session 2 weeks ago and had to get off ice after 5 min. Felt a tweak on inside of right knee when I went into a wide BF save . Left knee is achy most of the time. Saw my ortho Thursday and was told I have no medial cartlage in my left knee. It's bone on bone.Eventually I will need a knee replacement.I had a partial medial menisectomy in '79 .He took out middle 1/3 of the cartilage where it was torn .So I guess over the years I've worn away the remainder of the cartilage. So the MCL sprains aren't that bad. Grade 1 most likely but right knee may have a cartilage issue and ACL was slightly stretched.I can get an MRI if it still bothers me in awhile.
Ortho told me I can play if i don't mind the issues related to the bone on bone and can deal w/the pain or swelling that might occur. I think I've been playing w/this issue for the last 2 yrs anyway.
I may get the series of 3 injections that work as a lubricant for the joint and se if that makes it feel better.
Hockey's all I have left for competitive sports and if I can play I'm going to.

I haven't injuried any of my legs so far (thanks GOD!) but you need to get it checked out if it isn't getting better. Rest as well.

My left knee seems to be better now. I've had a couple games without issue. I have two games tonight, we'll see how it holds up.
