I think the ASHL is the worst league I have played in for one reason; the referees. They have the most unprofessional, power tripping, biased, refereeing out of any of the leagues I have played in. My team tends to play on the edge, and we take a fair number of penalties. We understand that, but it has become some sort of game for the refs now. Calling the most unbelievable penalties, and not calling some blatant ones ever. I'm not just talking about my team, it's on any team playing the game. Missed calls going both ways, and Phantom calls right left and centre.

The ASHL is supposed to stand for the Adult Safe Hockey League. It has 21 locations all over Canada, and for the most part are played in decent rinks. I've played in the ASHL in two of the 21 locations, and they share a lot of the same referees.

With a recent issue which left me suspended for a few games, the word has gotten out about myself and my team. The referee that was giving out team issues last night directly told me "You of all people need to watch yourself". Which leads me to believe they've all discussed it, and now there's some sort of bounty or bias towards me and my team.

Last nights game the #12 referee, with his tinted Ovechkin visor was on a real trip. He kicked out 3 of my teammates when we had a short bench. First one Justin was kicked out for 3 penalties, now the penalties were as follows: First penalty was a roughing call, which was a fair penalty. Second call was a 2 minute unsportsmanlike conduct for diving. He was cross checked in the back and went face first in to the boards. How can a ref call that a dive? What person in their right mind is going to dive face first in to the boards? Not to mention, there was a cross check call on the other player. How can you call a cross check, and a drive on the same play. Either he was cross checked or he wasn't. Justin's second penalty was a slashing penalty, when Just was holding the stick with one hand trying to reach around a guy and whack the puck away. The stick came in contact with the opposing players shin pad, and he was called 4 minutes for slashing. Even the opposing player shook his head at the ref, and said "what a joke" to me. So this kicks Justin out of the game.

Next player to get Kicked out was Ben. Ben is 6, 200lb defenseman, and he plays also quite on the edge. Gets lots of penalties for rubbing guys out on the boards and or knocking them around when their in front of me. Ben lined up a guy on the blue line and ran into him. Now when I say lined up a guy it sounds bad. But really he just had him in his sites and kept his ice. The guy did flail a bit when he went down, and there was a big noise when their shin pads connected. So this I would definitely consider a penalty, I have no problem with a 4 minute body checking on this. Same penalty that has been called all season for the same type of contact. But what does Ben get? He gets himself a 5 minute Major, and a 10 minute Misconduct. Which results in him getting an automatic 1 game suspension. Complete bull**** call on the refs part.

Lastly Boomer our speedy forward gets an Unsportsmanlike Conduct, and a Game Misconduct for lipping off the refs due to their bad calls. Which also lands him a 1 game suspension.

So the other team gets 21 minutes in Powerplay time, scores 3 power play goals. They had multiple 5-3 situations. There's 41 minutes total in PIMs called, and we end up losing 5-1.

We were playing a great game until the refs decided to take it in to their hands and ruin the game.

This is just the story of one game, this type of **** is regular business in the ASHL and I'm absolutely sick of it.
