Well, it's been quite a while since I've made a blog post so I figured with all the crazy things that've happened in the last couple weeks it was a good chance to brag or cry about it all in a new blog post.

To address the title, first and foremost, it's true. Government Canada has denied my application for a work permit causing me for the first time in 3 years to actually break down and cry like a little *****. I was scared, annoyed, confused and angry all at the same time. It's been 2 1/2 years since I've worked and finding out that Canada wouldn't let me work for another 6 months at least made me break down. Within 24 hours however we had a solution that would quickly be crushed by my boss. Permanent Residence! It was perfect, it'd allow me to work AND go to school in Canada and all it required was that I apply from outside Canada and stay in the US for a month. After that I was free to move between the US and Canada as I pleased and in 6-12 months time I'd have an answer for my permanent residence request. WELL, after discussing this with my boss, he informed me that he had other plans for me. Apparently, The Forzani Group has interest in branching into the US with Hockey Experts and I've made them so much money (supposedly, I don't actually know what the hell I've done for them) that they instantly thought of giving me the job! The extreme downside is that I have to move back to the states away from my g/f and our three kids which I intend to fix by proposing to her on New Year's Eve hopefully allowing her to more easily move into the US should this become a permanent thing for me. It also means I have to deal with American politics and crap which is something I'm not looking forward to. Those things, however major, aside the job has a lot of perks. For starters I get to pick any location anywhere in the US to open a Hockey Experts and then fill it how I choose. I get "upper management" salary as well as a free apartment and cell phone. And finally I get my own personal assistant! Good times...but quite the life change.

Now for the other random crap that happened; I allowed 18 goals on 32 shots (Don't know why, but only 2 of the goals just legitimately beat me, the rest all hit me and somehow miracled their way into the net), got kicked off the team that I've carried for 2 seasons now, had my girlfriends ex-husband screw us out of going back to my house in the US for Christmas because he's supposedly dying (for about the 30th time in 2 years), gotten three colds and successfully beaten Call of Duty: Black Ops for the xbox 360. Not really too exciting, this was more a chance for me to brag about my job which I'm guessing nobody is even going to take a look at.

tl;dr-I got a promotion and I'm moving back to the US for a while.

lol I'm coming home to Toledo for a few weeks before I start looking for a place to set up a store. If there wasn't so much competition in that area I'd probably open the store in Toledo.

I'm really hoping that this store just does absolutely amazing and they let me open a store in BC for christ's sake. I don't wanna be back in the states

Dude, sorry to hear about your situation with Canada. You probably should do some real market research and analysis. You don't want to open up a store in a location that is doomed to fail. I would recommend the Washington DC area because there is ice hockey in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. It's all in a 50 mile radius.

What about Detroit? The only real store that I've found seems to be Peranis.

No one in their right mind wants to live in Detroit.

Pretty much. I was thinking Toledo because of BGSU, UofM, MSU, UT and the myriad of H.S. hockey teams in a 45 minute radius, but with Perani's having 8 stores or w/e in the area and the fact that Detroit/Toledo are automotive based towns which are struggling atm I think I'll save that expansion for later.

D.C. is a good suggestion, I never even thought of checking into that area. I'm obviously not just opening a store in the next month, it's going to take time to find the right area. My company has put a massive amount of faith and responsibility on me and I want to prove to them that even with no college degree I can still make them just as much money as anyone else hopefully making them push Government Canada harder to get my permit.
