1974! Wow - I had no idea it was that late. Heh - it sure does - wonder if that was just wear or if he cut it down. (You'd think he'd stitch up the top.)

Heh - true enough, Dropout, though I think defensemen who step in front of shots might be even crazier than we are!

Andy Brown...in 1974! Speaking of the stuffing coming out, doesn't it look like someone took a bite out of Plante's pad in that colored Canadiens photo?! Haha

They say goalies are crazy - I'd say the guys wearing pads with the stuffing coming out the top pioneered the craziness!

    Great stuff! :) I like Harding's mask.

I'm curious (and maybe I should know this, but oh well....), who was the last goalie to go mask-less?

Thanks for reading! I just did one on Plante you may enjoy. Sawchuk's mask is a definite upcoming blog (I'm a huge Red Wings fan!). They've had some classic masks through the years.

For me, the most frightening one was Sawchuk's one which covered only his face; looking at the pic now on my wall here at home of him when he was with the Wings. Wont junk your blog with a pic. Cant wait to see what you post next. Keep it coming please. For an old guy like me, this is great stuff.

Thanks! Yea there isn't as much of a canvas for masks nowadays, with the cages. But I'm sure the goalies are ok with that and would rather be safe and be able to see! Haha. Either way there are some cool ones out there today, but nothing beats the vintage look in terms of intimidation.

Awesome blog:) i agree the old masks are definately the coolest and most intimidating looking. masks today are alittle too repetitive to me.

I've been there... know that feeling much better than I'd like to admit...

I played in the GLJHL it's Tier 3 Juniors. I am hoping to move up this season so that I can get some exposure to maybe play college hockey somehwere. And thanks for the compliments! I love my glove hand lol I think it comes from starting out playing baseball.

Nice work! You move very well in there and you have a great glove! What level are you playing? I ask because I don't recognize the team name.

Thanks for updating it! And I wish the camera was better lol that's what happens when you depend on the teams in your league for game film I guess.

I would put him in ANY skating practices you can get him in to. Regardless if he wants to be a goalie or not. Skating is the #1 skill goalies need to master.

Hell put him in figure skating!!!
