Lately I've been playing around with a different glove style. Before, I kept my glove closer to my pad and fingers pointing to the side, but it just felt like I'm constantly getting beat there and my arm feels slow reacting to top-corner shots. I decided to switch it up. I'm trying the fingers pointed up method with my arm raised up to cover the corner, and reacting to lower shots by dropping my arm down to get them. But something weird happened after switching styles...I'm seeing a dramatic drop in the number of shots in that general area. It could just be coincidence, or maybe with my glove higher up the shooter sees less of the net (even though I'm more open between the glove and pad now), and as a result is more inclined to shoot blocker side or 5-hole? Goalie Jedi mind tricks perhaps: "This is not the corner to shoot on" :) I've even started tapping my glove with my stick to encourage the shooter to shoot there (partly to taunt, partly because I want more practice there) but no one has taken the bait yet. I wish I could see stats on which area of the net I'm getting shot at the most and where I'm getting beaten the most.

Speaking of stats, I'm still digging the stat tracking in my ball hockey league. They still have wrinkles to iron out (i.e. if there is a drop-in player/goalie their stats don't get recorded, missing records, etc), but it's still fun seeing my current game stats and compare myself to other goalies. As usual, I got peppered for 35 shots in my last game, but it was 2 shots less vs the last game at least lol. My save % was 0.829 that game, my first recorded save percentage in the 80% range. Yay :) Next objective it to get a save percentage in the 90% range in a game. Also, the number of total shots I've taken for 5 games recorded is 110. Other goalies have recorded 8 or 9 games and their total shots taken is 119, 109, and 89. Yeah...I still feel like I'm the guy facing a firing squad armed with machine guns instead of rifles :)
