Winter 2010/2010 - Game 1 - Berserkers 3 - Albino Crackers 0

I wasn't sure how this season was going to start. It had been a long time since we had played the Albino Crackers (weird name I know). Our team happens to know one of the players on the other team, Mike McLean. He's a great guy, but on the ice he's a terror. Usually hitting everything he sees, and generally causing a ruckas. After the game I thought about it, I didn't notice Mike out there once. Usually he's always talking to me or I'm yelling at him or he's in my face, but I just didn't notice him, except when he skated to the penalty box once.
The reason I'm pointing this out is the fact that I didn't notice him at all because I was so focused. This focus lead my team to a 3-0 win, a shut out for myself in the first game of the season. This sort of caught me by surprise, and wasn't expected at all. I stopped 18 of 18, which is a low work load, but generally 18 shot night can produce a number of goals on me, lol.
The Albino Crackers goalie #2 Chris Szabunia was insane, he was stopping shots he had no business stopping. He was all over the place in the net and in perfect position most of the time. Even made a couple desperation saves. At the end of the game I was talking with him, and I let him know he was the only reason it wasn't 10-0. Our team was all over them, and he played an amazing game. I told him about this site, and hopefully he comes and checks it out.
My team worked very hard, and played well as a team. We hope to keep this work ethic up, and no line changes yet.
Anyways, it sure felt good getting that goose egg to start the season. We actually have to play these guys again next week. I'm highly doubting a repeat performance on my part, but my goal is to keep my team in it to win it.
