  1. Sunday night SMACKDOWN

    by , 07-06-2011 at 08:42 AM
Too bad we were on the wrong side of it. :)

I actually felt pretty good throughout the game, even though we lost 8-2. Yeah, ouch. I had a friend record the action in our end, so I can see my positioning, movement, and what actually happened on some of the goals against.

Goal #1 came pretty quick in the game (yet again). Our opponents wore red, so I'll refer to them as the reds. Red player came across the blue line and ripped a shot at me. It was coming right for my ...

  2. ...and down we go

    by , 07-04-2011 at 12:32 PM
    ...continued.

With that epic win (Refer to "story of my life"), we've catapulted in to the finals. Oh snap! Regardless of what team we face, we get two kicks at the can, and they only get one (Double elimination format). This is great! If we lose the first one, we can evaluate our mistakes and try again.

So two teams play for the privelage to face us. Who would it be? The Badgers, aptly named, or the Penguins, a great all around team as well, without so ...

  3. Story of my life :(

Well, playoffs are finally over, and boy was it an interesting ride.

So we finished spring league in 7th place. Our scoring was seriously lacking, and the defense were making simple mistakes that change games completely. Turnovers at our blue line when the puck carrier is the last man back (I hate that), defense trying for some odd reason to block the shot but not doing so and screening me instead, noone watching the slot (high, mid, or low), allowing passes through the middle of ...

  4. Another great outing by my team gets a win

    by , 06-27-2011 at 11:24 AM
Seriously, if the team I play goal for had a stronger net presence, they would be 1 or 2 divisions higher. What a great group of guys, especially on the ice!

Now, to the game review - I started battling a cold late last week, but it was manageable so I decided to cancel my other games and play this one. I felt reasonably good in the warm up and was eager to follow up my last game.

We were up against a team we hadn't played yet, but there top scorer used to play for the ...

  5. Two Period Domination Ends in Acceptable Loss

    by , 06-27-2011 at 08:41 AM
We played the Orange team last night. This is the team which is in 1st place, and caused my meltdown a few weeks ago....

Orange got an early go ahead goal on a third attempt hack rebound. My guys answered back quickly, and kept the pressure up. I have a defensive pair that is notably week (but trying to get better), and Orange took advantage when they could.
As far as time on attack and SOG, we won the period. We also tied them for goals. We left the first 3-3.
    The ...
