Design:

Pete Smith designed these pads originally for his SP6000 line at Smith Hockey. When Warrior bought him out, he had to make a few adjustments to make the pads NHL legal. But the overall design remains the same. With so many options and features on these pads it's hard to pin point what makes them so good. The binding-less design is amazing, you look at these and compare them to more contemporary pads and you wonder just how he did it. The graphic is amazing, it's great the graphic is wrapping around the side of the pad, and comes with 16 colour zones to choose from. The pad is extremely light, at 5.7lbs for my 38"+1 pads, that's lighter than most 34" pads. The table top boot sits the pad higher up on your leg giving you a "taller" pad. It also makes for great rotation as there is barely and friction in the boot area. The soft flat face gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to rebound control. You can choose multiple break options, which will give you varying degree of flex in the pad.

Construction:

Pete's construction of this pad is amazing, every piece is perfectly in place. Soft faced pads often use stuffed foams, and with the use of HD Foams and stuffed foam we often see loose Jenpro around the different pieces. Warrior has found a way to get this as tight as possible, and it really gives the pad a clean slick look. There isn't any oddly shaped pieces or stuffing moving to one side. You've got a nice tight package. Due to the binding-less design, there really isn't any stitching other than that of the graphic to the pad. The strapping is all quickly replaceable, in case one gets run over by a skate, or they start to wear out.

Protection:

Protection in each of the pieces in this set it top notch. No shots felt through the pad, no stingers in the glove, and no sore fingers or hand with the blocker. This set is truly made for play against pro-shots.
