Why do RBKs have 2 boots straps? whats the point? and why does he tie them so tight?
there are so many things wrong with this video hahahaha
1.) why would you pick larcenys to show how to fit a pad... they are not what most goalies are gunna buy.
2.) those pants are WAYYYY to small on him.
3.) 98% of goalies can wear thigh boards, and most wear knee pads if the cant. he didnt have either.
4.) hes a bender, why wouldn't you pick someone who could bfly slide or shuffle atleast?
I thought the same about the pants, looks like he was wearing a waist cincher! lol
But with the comment about Larceny's, you could say that about all pads, as everybody wears something different??
For the Thigh boards he did say that they removed them just for video to show how the pad fit.
when tieing the toe lace i have way too much lace to just go through front of skates, i have to come from back of skate and then double knot
My Bauer Supremes have two boot straps. I like it...
Also, I don't fall forward in my pads to do them up, until I do up my boot straps. It's such a pain in the arse to do up most of the straps on your knees.
Also, no undergear?? If you're getting a set of pads fit, you should fit them with what you would wear under them. I know it's an ad video, but still...
Scottish, you could cut your lace? I do my laces the way he does those in the video. it saves time, is much easier, and it's all you need really
I think for new goalies its good. it gives you a starting point on how to do up the pads. Keep in mind everyone does up there pads different, but in the beginning you just want to learn a way of doing it so you can go and play. I had already played several games before i found this forum. I learned how to do up my pads from an online video similar to this one. I have completely changed it and continue to play around with it but at least i could go and play. Pants do look a little tight though!
To correct the criticism of the video. It is designed for goalies and parents new to the position.
If you listened carefully to what they were saying, they explained the way a pant and pad should fit.
- They needed to exaggerate a bit to show the top of the knee so-to explain that the knee needed to be exposed at the base of the pant, which it does, he never said the pant fit properly.
-As for the pad. That is the new pad offered, so I bet it was to promote it. The thigh board was taken off for video purposes, which they said. This was again so you could see the knee in the knee cradle.
-The strapping of the pad was explained also as for 'new goalies' they recommend to strap the pad that way, but most goalies tend to leave the straps loose to their own preference.
As for the butterfly slide, the skates looked like they were out of the box, so I am sure they weren't sharpened at all.
As for an overall informative video, if you were a novice goalie or parent, and listened to the actual words rather than motions, then it is very helpful in my book. Successful, good job Pure Goalie.
