Exclamation Brian's Custom Sports - SubZero Goalie Pad

It looks like Brian's Custom Sports is trying something new. They've created their new line the SubZero, and from these pictures it looks like a minimal strapping design. This could be a custom feature from the pictures that are floating around, but from the rumours they're 20% lighter of a pad, and eliminating straps is one way to reduce weight. They still have a boot strap, and just the knee lock and calf lock. We won't know for sure until the official release, but here's some sneak peak pictures.

Looks like a DX2 without straps. 20% less? I don't think straps and buckles weigh that much. They've got to be doing something else to drop 20%.

I'm not surprised by the minimal strapping idea. The TPS R10 Lundqvist model had this Y-strapping system that replaced the three leather leg straps with two nylon straps.

Yeah lighter foams, etc. They just lost weight any way they could.

Love the look. The DX2 pads were my favorite looking pads ever made

Is it held on by the calf and knee locks?

Evidently this is what the graphic will look like... seems a bit out there, but I am interested to hear more about the functional design of this series:

I would get dressed too quickly if I didn't have to fiddle with useless straps.
