    Default Chest Protector Advice

I'm new to Ice hockey, i've decided i want to play the goalie position. I've bought most of my Gear now, the only thing i'm having trouble with now is the correct chest protector and size. I'm mainly looking at the Reebok 9k snr, Reebok Pro-spec, or the Warrior Swagger i'm just over 5ft 9" 169cm arm span, 44" chest. 16stone. i've been looking around the internet quite a bit to see what would be the best one for us, I've got a Budget of around 200-250 euros/£. its been very difficult to find any shops in the UK that stock any goalie gear whatsoever, everything has to be ordered on request by the looks of it.

if anyone could help us i'd be very thankful.

I have one answer for you, the Passau chest protector. It is exactly within your price range, and it will give you the maximum amount of protection, and complete mobility. The best part is it will be custom fitted for you. So there is no worrying about buying the wrong size. If you contact Hugo at Passau, he'll walk you through how to measure yourself properly.

Here's my review of the chest protector, and I sold off my old chesty to keep this one for personal use.

That's the funniest god damn screen capture ever. It's like you're about to say, "You be representin' the west side in this mutha****in' chest protecta."

...that said, as long as it's in your budget, you can't go wrong with the Passau. You're kind of in this weird area where by chest size you'd probably wear a large in many chest protectors, but you might not have the arm span for a large but would fit better in a medium. I'm 5'11" and wear a large Reebok chest protector and LIKE that it has longer arms. But if you're two inches shorter the arms might be too long. I'd get a retailer a call if you're adamant about a major retailer, or just give Passau a call for a custom one that you know will fit perfectly.

Yeah, a 5'9" man would usually be a size medium if he got a Reebok chest protector. And by weird area, he means you have a lot of weight for your height and a large chest such that a size large would best accomodate your torso.

If their price is too steep or you don't need a pro-level chest protector, check out Planet Goalie. They've got medium-level/medium-priced chest protectors. Shipping a chest protector to Europe is an additional $125 US.
