Cubberly Cage on my Pro's Choice Vapor Mask
Everyone,
Well until i can afford a new mask, I want a Cubberly; I decided to try the next best thing.
Put a Cubberly (Don Beaupre Model) Cage on Pro's Choice Vapor Mask.
Well it took a little pushing but i got it on.
And scored 4 out of 6 possible attachement points.
Sorry the pics dont due my white paint job justice but trust me the mask is white not off white.

Hey Jim - How does the forward vision on this cage compare to a cat eye cage? I'm worried that the center bars are spaced too far apart, and that vision will be impaired when moving your eyes side to side. What's your take? I've heard that peripheral and downward vision is excellent - is that what you've found too?

Is this style cage allowed in most leagues?
I know pro cat eye's arent, however everyone is using them including myself. I personally think that they have to state it in the rules like no beer in the dressing room, even though they know that everyone does it. I would be concerned that perhaps a cage like this would draw attention to it and a ref might ask you to change it.
Used it first time tonight and i dont know why. but vision is alot better with this setup over the catseye
again.. it really cant explain why.. but the bars just disappear.. i played a really great game in the cage.. we lost.. but
great game.. saw and tracked the puck well.. with the catseye you feel closed in. this you feel you can see more..
as far as beer league we got guys with no face shields..loosing teeth and breaking noses.. they dont worry about me at all..
I am playing SR A in one league and SR C in another.. and not a peep from a ref.. for goodness sake. i am in an NHL full custom from a headmold mask.
i am better protected than any keeper out there. if they ever bother to even ask me.. LOL
but i must admit i just turned 43 and i am falling apart.. hip injury keep me out 8 weeks this summer.. broken ribs first game of winter session out 6 weeks.
last week my contact messed up my left eye.. good grief.. these 18 yr olds are getting the best of me.. LOL
I would strongly recommend this bar set up to any keeper.. i was very skeptical but now i am believer
