    Default Toe Tie idea

I was thinking that with Elasticated laces these days would it work to replace the toe tie with a set of these, giving you the same kind of effect as a flex toe??

Actually, I do exactly that and I love it. The pads snap into place when I get up, and the flex allows my foot to turn if it needs to.

I was thinking that the other day, too, but I would wonder if you would be able to tie it tightly enough on your skate as you would a regular skate lace toe tie. Because it's inherently elastic, would it tighten and tie just like a toe tie? Slim, have any pics of your setup?

Heard of taking smallest version of bungee cord or other narrow elastic cord (shock cord for tents) and putting hook on end. Use that to clip to skates. Will probably switch to that after my sets of Flex Toes die. (Thanx Goaliecrease contest!!! - lovin the flextoes and Jims Sham sweatband)

My one issue with Flex Toe - the small plastic clip slid off the cord. I picked up a lobster clasp (think really beefed up necklace clasp) and tied it to the cord. Works great. And not afraid of it slipping off cord.

That happens when you don't insert the cord all the way to the tip of the hook. They explain it on the video, and on the instructions. They also come with a spare hook as well.

I tie it in a bow just like I would a normal skate lace. I do have to make sure the knot is tight, but it's just takes an extra tug...

I'll take a picture at my next game and post it.

Yeah - I know... It took a bit of time before the cord popped out. The cord came out as I was taking off my pads. I couldn't get the little hook to open back up. Forgot to fix it before my next time one the ice... The clasp was a "Oh crap how am I gonna keep my flex toe on" Of course I had taken the hook out of my bag.

I wrapped a small amount of tape around the tip that goes into the hook on my flextoes. It made it a little bit harder to seat the tip all the way, but with some determination and my man hands, I got it done. I also wrapped my lace in a little tape where I clip on. I've never had a tip pop off, or a clip come loose.

This thread encouraged me to finally bring over my 'pet project' from the GSBB.

I've written up why I think every goalie needs to ditch their toe ties:

    http://www.goaliecrease.net/equipmen...-toe-ties.html

Read it and let me know what you think. I'm happy to answer questions.
