I would wear my old knit socks only when it was too cold...got some Reebok weave socks with velcro as a present. Anyone know what the velcro is used for? I just put them on and they were held in place pretty well with just my kneepads.

ahh dont really know...I mean I could do either way for sure. I guess I just prefer socks cause thats what i have done forever. Was a little more cool on the legs, so I guess I like the slightly added warmth. Also the slight added thickness makes a difference too, and i guess I prefer a more tighter feel in the knee you could say. Just a preference for me. And also wouldnt have anything to wipe my skates with after a game if i didnt wear socks!

Yeah so you're saying you just decided you didn't like it because it felt "Different". A lot of people have a hard time adjusting to anything different.

I have a little face cloth I use to wipe skates. :)

I wear Walmart brand UA. They are the same type of material but are looser. I don't like the feel of the garter belt. I have out gear and play out once and awhile. I was thinking of modding my out Itech shorts with my double cup; then I may try socks.

I go with Underarmour leggings and my team's hockey socks over top, for a few reasons:
The velcro calf-lock on my pads catches and releases the leggings throughout the game, causing wear and tear on the $80 leggings, as opposed to the $15 socks.
My pads feel very loose when I'm without the socks.
    The socks are just comfortable!

Now that I tuck in my C/A though, I'm not liking the garter belt so much so I'm probably going to get those UA leggings with the velcro for socks on them

Walmart Brand UA is the best bang for buck, I wear them and they work great for me and are about half the cost or less of Under Armour.

Last night, for the first time, I tried going without regular hockey socks. I had originally purchased a pair of Under Armour core shorts, but then decided that I wanted to give the full pants a try. So, back to the store I went, returned the core shorts (may re-purchase a pair in the future), and grabbed a pair of the fitted pants. Put them on at the arena, and was thoroughly impressed at how comfortable they were. Since I took off my knee pads in my previous game, my problem of what to do with my knee pads when wearing full pants was a non-issue.

After playing one game, I threw my equipment in my bag to make my trip to another arena for another game. Threw on some sweat pants over my UA pants, and by the time I got to the other arena (15 minutes later), my UA pants were already dry! Let's just say after playing two games with start times less than two hours apart, I was very impressed at how the UA performed, and I will not be going back to hockey socks again!
