Pain in my knees and hips, my work schedule, and I haven't really been looking forward to playing lately. I've still got a few years in me, just not enough to buy another new set of gear.

I suffer the pain as well, I'm turning 35 this year. The only way to combat the pain is to get in better shape, which we both should be doing regardless of hockey or not.

I've gone through slumps feeling the same way. It does pass, and the joy does return I promise you that.

Yeah, I dropped off of the goalie planet too. I just played forward for years.

My friend told me a story of his Franklin gloves where the paint bled through the glove and they looked disgusting.

My favorite is Warrior, I LOVE their blockers, but for catchers I would say Bauer, leg pads, Brian's, and for Chesties definitely Passau.

For me, I've always liked the look of Vaughn gear - maybe that's just because it still resembles the older style pads with the knee rolls and such. I used to draw goalies all the time, and loved all the tiny details in the pads.

That being said, since I've started playing, I've gone with a flat faced pad, and after having a set of Reebok pads, have made the switch to Simmons gear. Although, now that they're starting to come out, I'm really liking the look of the new Warrior gear as well. When it's time to replace the Simmons in a few years, it may be a tough call whether to stick with them, or give Warrior a go.
    Pads: Simmons 996 | Catcher: Simmons 996 | Blocker: Simmons 996 | Mask: Reebok 7K
    Chesty: Simmons 996 | Pants: Itech RX9 Pro | Sticks: Reebok 8K / Bauer One80 / Reebok PII | Skates: Bauer One80

I would go with Bauer. I don't really like the tribal designs or the feel of Vaughn pads, and I don't trust Reebok because all the Reebok equipment I've owned has fallen apart within a year. Plus I find the Revoke and Larceny graphics butt-ugly. I absolutely love my one100 pads (all I need is another 800$ to get the matching gloves..)
