Mine tend to go to eBay to die
This is a discussion on Where Do Goalie Pads Go to Die? within the Equipment Chat forums, part of the The Gear category; I sell all my old gear. I would die before I let someone wear nice gear on the road :D...

So the consensus seems to be that we sell them. But then what? Two admitted to throwing away some pieces of gear, but they were 10/15/20+ years old. Where, for example, have all the P1 and P2 pads gone? I haven't seen a P1 pad in probably 4+ years, and I maybe see one P2 pair around the rinks. Where the hell are they going? Those pads really aren't that old. Is there a goalie dryer someplace where the goalie gods steal them? Are they hanging out with my lost socks and holey underwear in clothing purgatory?
There is enough goalie gear between my garage and my parent's garage I could probably setup a small towns hockey association with goalie pads. At least 4 masks, a few sets of leg pads, and a stock pile of gloves, at least 3 C/As and at minimum 20 sticks.
Ive never sold any old equipment, but hey someone couldve seen me walking around with theirs because I buy everything from play it again sports except my blocker, its the only new piece of equipment

I haven't had the opportunity to get rid of any of my gear yet [and probably won't], but I got all of it, with the exception of my stick and skates, off craigslist in one shot. The guy had gotten it at an auction from a AAA team, presumably from Detroit [logo on the bag] and they used it because they didn't have a regular goalie. They got one so they didn't need the extra stuff anymore, so he sold it, and I got a pretty good deal.
Our youth foundation [who supplies my helmet and miscellaneous equipment] has rooms full of stuff, and an entire room full of goalie stuff...
I think local rinks will probably inherit quite a lot of old gear to help those just starting out, or to kit out a player due to their goalie not being able to make it.
The ONLY thing better than tea with Miss McGill
This is a great question to ask Tim Thomas.
