Ok so i recently purchased a set of used McKenney 870s (some of you have seen them advertised on Goalie Forum) i got to use them tonight for the first time and i love them! Thats kind of amazing as it usually takes several practices for me to get used to different pads but i did great in these. I felt like i had a better butterfly and the transition from down to up was way faster with them. Why arent more people using these pads? And are the trapper and blocker as good as the pads?
I play hockey because I love the game. I am a goalie because i have all the mental deficiencies that the position requires!
Glad you liked the pads after you used them (had them listed for sale on this board too).
I'm guessing more people don't use them because they are not as easy to get as the "Big Guys" Bauer, Reebok & Vaughn. I've never used the gloves in a game but played around with them many times in the local shops and the Blocker is a Blocker (I perfer the 870 to the 890, it's more old school). The trapper well that's a little different, it very well constructed and feels really good on the hand. But I'm just not a fan of how it closes, not sure what it is.......guess I'm just use to the way my glove closes after almost 15 years.
:) GO HABS GO
