Default Last piece of puzzle for a rookie

At my local shop I can get ccm 1252 pro tacs, reebok 3k and nike bauer one55 skates all for near same price. Brand new, baked and sharpened...not sure which way to go.

PS: price is give or take 200 before tax.

    ******edit******
I guess to sum up my above question:1252 Tacs are higher end 8-10 years "old" and 3k/one55 are lower end 1-3 years "old", but are the 3k/one55's new enough that they would be a smarter buy or the equivalent of the 1252 tacs, when all prices are almost equal?

PS(again, lol) local shop says that if I were to bring in skates from elsewhere to get baked & sharpened it'll run $35. When considering all costs of both net and store skate purchases, it makes more sense buying from them, I think.

Nothing wrong with Tacs, never tried RBKs, bought one pair of Nike Bauers and had nothing but issues with the cowlings I went through 4 pairs (of cowlings) and had an outside....."disagreement" with the guy who owned the store who sold them to me. Those were with the blue lexan cowlings but also have heard some people with the same issues with the normal white cowlings (soemone told me they were Tacs ...I do not know if that is true). I am around 220 without pads and play an agressive style of game so I am not easy on skates but man ..they were crap and now the comapny does not exist which may make complaints a bit hard.....I finaly spent the money and bought some Grafs Best decision ever!!!!!!!!!!

Hrm, I believe i'll end up spending in the 200-250 range on skates.

Then i'll play in my equipment for a while and i'll be able to tell where I need to improve and what is good enough. I suspect that the only thing i'll need to improve for sure is my mask, as I originally planned on inline hockey and not ice, though my mask can handle beginner ice i'm sure.

I'll back up butters on that for sure....don't skimp on your skates for sure. I'd go with the older Pro Tacks as well. I did the same thing when I bought mine a few years back. I was going to buy just a mid line skate and the shop offered me a pair of Koho Pro Titanium 560 pro returns instead...these have been amazing skates!!!

I'm currently using CCM Tacks 652 and had them baked when I purchased them. If you can get 1252s for the same price as the 3k's, I'd say the choice is pretty simple.

That's like asking me if I would rather pay the same price for a 1995 Corvette in new condition or a 2010 Kia Rio.

Go with the 1252 Tacks. Hopefully, you will be in it for the long run. Good skates can last a long time. A cheap skate (ha ha, no pun intended) will not support your foot and ankle as you get better and you'll need to upgrade. The higher end boot will be made with better materials and will last longer.

I've never had skates baked. I just skate with them to break them in.

I honestly don't really know in that department. The tacks remained pretty much the same in my 5 year hiatus from hockey so I'm guessing they're all just about the same throughout their life with minor upgrades here and there. I've always worn tacks and I don't have a single complaint about them. I do know that I've owned them roughly 3 years though. Not sure if I bought them in the year they were released or if I bought them clearance.
