    Default Olie MA7000

Does anyone use an Olie mask? what do they compare to? And how in the heck can they make them so much cheaper than anyone else?
I play hockey because I love the game. I am a goalie because i have all the mental deficiencies that the position requires!

I've got nothing for ya dude...I've never been a fan of the way they looked so I've never even tried one on before. As for the pricing of them...look into the materials that they are using and see if they are comparable to their competition. If they are comparable...the only thing I can come up with is that they might just be cheaper in order to try and gain some better market share.

Cheaper doesn't always mean lower quality. They might be cheaper because I can't recall any Olie masks in the NHL which means for one they don't have to pay licensing fees. Just ask Pete Smith and Mark Simmons about skipping that extraordinary expense, it saves a ton for the same quality gear by the time you or I purchase it.

I wore an Olie for 2 years a while back, absolutely loved it. At the time it was their mid range model comparable to today's NVE/NME 7...beyond that I have no idea what they're like today.

Well the MA2000 is there pro model and the MA7000 is just a wider version of the 2000. They are supposedly made of carbon fiber which i suppose is a good thing. i know that there lower models (9900 and 6600) are dubbed "widowmakers" but was just curious about the upper end masks.

Good point Arth about the licensing fees...that thought never even occurred to me.

    I'm guessing their 6600/9900 models are...Lexan?

Funny how every mask made of plastic is dubbed "Widowmaker"
