My goalie pants would be considered "big but I could wear them with suspenders". In fact mine are huge. I swim in mine.

My daughter is going into Atom (9-10) and needs new hockey pants, in Novice she just wore player pants. She is almost 60 inchs but weighs on 58 lbs and has a waist of 22.5 inches. I tried the nike junior pants (small) and they seemed to big but she could wear them with suspenders. She then tried a pair of youth xlarge and fit better but didnt have much padding only on the thigh ( like her player pants). I want her to have more protection as the girls in Atom are shooting the puck much harder than in Novice. Also what size would she take in a goalie Jill ( junior small or youth xl).
Are there a brand who's pants fit a little smaller than the rest i.e) Reebok. Vaughn, Bauer etc

You should look into RBK. My 9 year old son has JrS goal pants. Not sure what his waist is but he's skinny as hell. The pants have an internal belt that really helps get the fit you may need.
Well, I'd rather have em playin with their toys than playin with themselves
thanks, it seems when I go to the stores it is either some person they just jhired who knows nothing about goalie and just wants to make a sale. I was also looking at skates and she takes a 2 shoe so we tried a 1 to big so then it was a 13.5. He went to get the pair she liked at $159 and told him I didnt want to spend to much and he brings out a pair she tries them and loves the look at size and the A hole says they are 299. I told my daughter to go look at the sticks and tore a strip of him as she in now upset I didnt buy these skates with tax 350 which is for houseleague which will last her a season if lucky. People like this should entitle you to give them one punch in the face per store.I will look at the RBK even though all the stores say they are getting there stuff in a few weeks
Definitely agree with the RBK pants with the internal belt. My son is 10 and plays atom and is wearing these pants in a JR Medium size and loves them. They are loose but the internal belt holds them up. Make sure the model you look at has the belt as some don't. we also tried the suspenders on another brand but he didn't like the feel of them. Unfortunately you have to do your homework before going shopping for any gear as a lot of sales people are completely unknowing unless you go to a hockey specialty store.
thanks, what style has the belt, as I looked at rbk junior small and no belt. I only saw them in medium and large. Believe it or not it was a hockey specialty store
only thing I got on my boys pants are, HPG RBK JR-XS. No xK modle or what not.
My son is 54lbs and 4'5".
