OK I have included some pics of the paws being worn by me on bare legs so you can see how they wear as I wear UA full legs under when I play and you wont be able to see as well as the leggings are all black also.

Any Paw product you order online from Sara will be custom made to your measurements and colour/material selection.

    This model is a PAW PKP 1000 Knee Pads SR and this is the specifications;
    cordura nylon shell :Black
    nash liner colour : grey
leg measurement 5" above knee cap :23"
leg measurement 6" below knee cap :17.5"
    no tab needed
You can have a tab added to attach to your pants if wanted.

I paid a total of $65.00 USDA and that included shipping to Vancouver Canada and this took about 2 1/2 weeks from ordering to arriving at my door.

I had a previous pair of the RBK silver knee pads with the plastic knee cap and after awhile hated them, I had sore knees and they moved/slipped and were not a good product for me at all.

I wore the Paws and thought they might be abit bulky in the knee cradle of my pads but they fit well, they did not move at all around my legs and my knees felt protected, as did my thighs. The rotation of the pad with these on was fine, no issues what so ever. I have taken a few hard shots and was hit on the inner thigh area that the Paws curl in and they protected me fine as I barely felt the shots at all. The velcro straps are strong and are holding up and I have never had them slip on me at all. The nash liner helps with it staying in place I think but i have never worn them with bare legs, only with the UA leggings. They wick away sweat but also dry very well and dont smell at all, I use a bacterial/odour spray and hang dry them after each use on my hockey tree so i am sure that helps.

The construction of the Paws are excellent, no frays or wear of any kind are showing yet. The velcro is heavy duty and the strappings shown no wear, not even from stretching them. All the stiching is tight and no signs of fraying or splitting. They have molded HDPE inserts for easy break in and a comfort foam for shock absorption. They are very light weight even though they look abit bulky and i dont even notice I wear them while playing.

As far as what goalie pads work well with these I have a set of Itech X-wings 7.8 and have worn a friends set of RBK PII's and they fit well in them also. I would suspect they work well with most pads.

I saw these on your pads the other day at Veit's Training Centre. I was going to ask you about them. Thanks for the review. I still haven't picked up my camera from him yet.

I purchased a pair of the Paw Knee pads. I found them bulky when I put them on. Like Bill I was worried about rotation and hindering the movement of the pads. After over 25 games wearing these pads I have come to the following conclusions. The pads are a welcome added piece of protection. After wearing them for 1 or 2 games I removed my thigh wraps and now only rely on the knee pads, which cover as much as my thigh wraps did. Dropping down for saves is now a worry free endeavor. I used to try and be easy on my knees due my advanced knee degradation, and the few extra pounds put on over the past four decades. However now I have no knee pain no matter how many games a week I play. IE... prior to PAWknee= 3 games a week, hobble around the house for 4 days. After Pawknee= I can play 3 or more games a week and no knee pain.

That being said... I took a slapshot from the left circle that hit my inside right knee, at the spot marked by the red arrows in the pictures(I used one of Bills Pictures= credit to Bill), needless to say, i laid on the ice for several minutes, and then admired the bruise for several days after. I am sure the knee shot was one in a million, but it only happened once in over 25 games, and stingers and bruises are part of the game.

I would highly recommend these knee pads to anyone interested in the added protection.

glad your liking them and they helped you in your game, I love mine. Sucks about the shot, must of been a hard one to squeak in around you knee landing and get in there like that.

Ya ive been looking into these because my thigh wraps always catch on my pants but ive always had knee problems so i was a little worried about trying something new. But now im sold since they help support your knees and you can play without knee pain!

Default I'm a PAW user as well

Liked the review. Great pads for anyone looking for additional protection. I've played with my PAW's about three times now and love them. I've used all different products over the years and I must say these PAW's are by far the best. They don't move, soft on the knee, and I customized my set.

I asked Sara to make the knee area a little thinner since I didn't want to remove a stack from the leg pads.

I wear mine under my socks and over my compression pants.

Just wanted to add my thoughts to the thread.
Sara is very fast to respond to any questions and to place my custom order. Taking measurements was easy and well explained on the website. I had been wearing Vaughn Thigh wraps that got caught in my pants. I switched to some Bauer (soft) knee guards... Terrible - they slipped & offered no protection.

I got my Paw pads in about 2 weeks. Sara gave me a production estimate when I placed the order and then updated me as to when she shipped them out.

Out of the box- well constructed. (I opted for the tab for lacing the pad to my pants as well as the attachment for a garter.) They were larger than my wimpy soft foam Bauers as well as much more protective. Wore them around the house - didn't slip. The top strap wraps around the leg once. The bottom strap comes around and through a slot before wrapping around behind the knee. This seems to "lock" the strap in place and prevent the slipping. (I wish the very edge of the strap with with the velcro that goes through the slot had just a little binding or something. The very last bit of the velcro has a tendency to catch when being fed thru the slot. - A refinement perhaps to the current design.)

Tied them into my pants and strapped up the pads. Had to do some adjusting to strapping for the knee area of my pads. Just a bit looser.

I LOVE these knee pads. Got a couple of shots to the knees, never felt them thru the pads. I recommend these knee pads.

The PAW kneepads are really nice. However, they are rather large. Keep this in mind if ordering. If your pad has a smaller kneelock/cradle the kneepad might be a little awkward at first. I used the PAW kneepads while wearing a set of smith sp6000 pads. I stopped using them when I decided to wear the kneepads that came with my Koho 588 RPM pads.

Still considering going back to them but we'll see.
