Maltese GPS Review A La Scottish: it works! yay'aaahhh lol

Ok so when I received this in the mail my first impressions were:

    Pro's
    1. Stitching and detail was exceptional
    2. The materials used were nice and soft which would be comfy to wear against skin
    3. Custom embroidery was spot on, Nice easy to read text and clean lines

    Con's
    1. felt kinda heavy
    2. the collar seemed kinda high for my neck
    3.

    After wearing on Ice thoughts:

    1. Weight was not an issue, never noticed it at all.
    2. Fit perfectly under my chesty and covered up the throat area that was exposed prior
    3. For me the heat factor was not noticeable at all. I guess I get as hot as I possibly can get so this didn't change that hahaha
    4. Comfort level and added protection level eased my mind about being in the way of pucks at head height.
    5. The height of the collar is not an issue either. At first I thought it may of been too high and make me feel restricted, but not the case.

    Over all:

Well worth the money and wouldn't hesitate to buy another should I ever need to, and I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for the best level of protection and comfort.

Thanks Phil for all your efforts!

    Interesting. That looks terribly uncomfortable.

It's not. It kind of moves with you..Hard to explain but feels very comfortable imo... I did get 1.5 collar though, and I'm glad I did.

I have the 2" collar, but after the first 2 mins of wearign it its not noticable. Especially when your thinking about so much more on the ice like how to keep your new pants up etc! haha

It does look kinda restricting I agree, but as an owner I can now safely say that its not uncomy at all, and feels good.

It's actually so comfortable, remember it's made of a gel, so it's soft but structurally sound.

Do you wear a dangler with that, or do you feel comfortable without it?

I personally dont wear a dangler and would not feel comfortable not wearing the maltese.

I guess my question is do you think the Maltese covers enough of the neck to protect it if a puck got under the mask?

Well, I think 'Scottish's' pictures illustrate how much of the neck a standard Combo covers. If you feel like you would need more neck covered, then a simple discussion would be required as we are custom. What we don't do is make our version of your favorite neck protection, such as a Vaughn Collar, as an example.

Oh yeah...many people get the Combo so they can lose the dangler. Others wear a dangler in conjunction with the Combo. I, personally have worn my Combo for the past thirteen years. Just a standard version. No dangler and I have been impacted on the neck many times, with no ill effects.
