unboxing my pads, Vaughn Epic 8606

These came in today. Vaughn Epic 8606 32+1 in Tampa Bay colour scheme. From GoalieMonkey.
My last pads were from 2000 by a company called Eddy. They were total crap.
These are like stepping into the future from a time capsule. It's all robo-weave. Even the white lettering on the sides are white robo-weave. The iceberg graphics are stitched on. Buckles are nice, they have rollers. Shin and knee have nash inner layer with soft padding. Sliding toe bridge with skate laces. I've removed them. I'm going to go without toe ties. The boot channel is shallow. They are really lightweight. I'm going to try the existing thigh guards and knee stacks and see how they feel. If they don't work, I'll try out knee pads. The knee lock has two wide elastic straps and are adjustable on both sides of the knee. I'm quite satisfied just from the looks, feel, weight, and quality.



























The bottom of the boot section is interesting. The boot strap starts about an inch from the inner edge and the boot strap buckle starts about a half-inch from the outer edge.

That robo-weave or whatever it's called is sexy on those dark pads. Kind of makes them shine more, maybe blind the shooter . Like them a lot though.
