Koho Revolution Pro Goalie Pants
Prior to buying these pants, I had been using Vaughn Epic 8800 goalie pants. These were a looser fitting pant with a lot of room inside which allowed for a very easy C/A tuck, which I prefer. I had only worn the epic pants for about two years but they were starting to wear down and the elastic material that runs up the inseam on one of the legs had gotten very terribly frayed. It was getting worse and I decided to buy some new pants -- it was Christmas time after all!
Anyways, I was browsing through various pants that were offered, and I was surprised at the affordable price of the Koho Revolution pants onGoalie Monkey . I found some info on them on the GSBB and it seemed nobody had any real complaints about them. I went ahead and emailedGoalie Monkey to figure out what size I should wear, telling them my waist size and height and that I liked to wear my C/A tucked. They suggested a Large or even possibly an XL, but I opted with a large at first as I'd rather not be wearing oversized pants.
The large size ended up being perfect for my size -- 6' tall, 185 lbs, 34" waist. The legs on these pants are a little shorter than the legs on the epic pants. That said, the pants have a removable extra knee pad that sticks out of the pant and is basically an extension to the pant length with a velcro strap you can wrap around your knee. I tried using this once and removed it. This was not for me. Additionally, the shorter pant length caused some problems with the knee pads to my Koho leg pads popping out of my pants and needing to be adjusted during play. I eventually decided to detach the knee pad from my leg pad and use tape to secure them anyways as they tended to shift on me and I took a puck to the knee last month that left me limping for days.
These pants do have a more snug fit than my old epics, especially in the legs. The nice thing about this, is that there are removable foam "stacks" on the inside of the leg that you can take out if you want a roomier leg channel. This is pretty much mandatory if you want to fit larger kneepads into the pant.
Something that is interesting that I was tempted to cut out completely is this internal belt system that the pants have. It is basically a floating belt inside the pant that is anchored to the pant shell at the back which you can use to tie tightly around your waist while allowing the pant to still be loose. At first the idea of a floating belt seemed silly to me but after getting it adjusted I have to say I really love it, and it is great for being able to tuck my C/A while making sure my pants are sagging.
In the just plain silly category, these pants have an ipod pocket, which I can pretty much say I will never use because I don't bring headphones into the locker room for beer league games.
Overall I am very happy with these pants so far. They are very protective and the price simply cannot be beaten. Obviously we will have to wait a few months to see how the durability holds up but for now I am very glad with my purchase decision.

my school gave me the reebok version of these. i LOVE them.
The pads are stacked and attached to the inside of the leg. Removing the inner-most ones will not sacrifice the 5 hole protection as the remaining ones are still anchored to the inside of the leg. If I were narrowing the actual pant leg you'd be right but I'm just freeing up space inside the pant leg so let my knee pads more more freely.
