    Default Vaughn 7450 vs. 7600 Chest/Arm Protector

Currently own the Vaughn 7450 chesty (white/navy/orange) and replacing it with the Vaughn 7600 chesty (black/silver/white) because I started facing recently retired AHL/FHL/NCAA-D1 players and the 7450 protection broke down quickly against them - I started feeling the shots more and more over short period of time until it reached the point I was actually getting bruised. The two chesty's are constructed almost identical, but their are major differences that I will outline.
    ----
    SHOULDERS:
7450 has 2 layers of protection, The 7600 has 4 layers of protection and 1 layer is removable so you could make it 3 layers if you choose. The 4th layer is Velcro-ed on the inside of the outer shoulder pad.
    ----
    STERN PLATE:
    7450 has 2 layers, 7600 has 3 layers
    ----
    RIBS:
7450 does not have wing flaps that protect on the inside of the arm high in the rib cage area. The 7600 has removable flaps that protect in this area. (they are Velcro-ed on).
    ----
    SIZING:
I am 5'10", 180lbs, arm span of 71" and the 7450 fit me very roomy/on the larger side. Even the head hole (collar area) was much larger/roomier than I would have preferred it. The arm protection was an inch too long and ran right into my glove/blocker. The 7600 has adjustable arm length and collar area allowing the 7600 chesty to fit my actual dimensions (custom fit), a feature the 7450 does not have. I'm ecstatic that the 7600 is very customizable making the chesty truly contour to my body sizing.
    ----
    MOBILITY:
The two chesty's are about equal, they flow easily for me and I have been happy with the performance.
    ----
    The only CON:
All of the 7600 adjustable straps are Velcro, including over the shoulder harness's (straps), the 7450 used adjustable standard belt straps that are more durable.

Nice, I like the look of the new 7600, does it feel bulky or restrict your movement in anyway?

I had no mobility issues with the 7450. The 7600 has the exact same mobility as the 7450 with one exception: every now and then my arms hit the flap that sticks out of the chest sternum that protects your ribs on both sides up near your arm pit area. Since they are just Velcro'ed on, they move back and forth as I hit them - you have the option of removing them from the chesty.

I think you'll find that if you just leave the velcro done up, it won't wear down. I find that it's from use that velcro wears out.

    Good comparison review

Velcro is quick, cheap, and easy to replace.
