How do you keep your gloves from getting crusty? I HATE crusty, dried gloves (especially because I inevitably wet them too much before the game and then my hands get soaking wet and they slip all over). Seems like this might make them crusty.

This is not so much an equipment review, but something to help prolong the life of your gear!
I hate having wet gear. Also, it always seems the longer your gear stays wet the faster it gets to the rancid smelly state of no return. Because of that, I am always very diligent about properly drying and taking care of my equipment. Given that gloves and skates tend to take the longest to dry, this product made a whole lot of sense.
This thing is perfect for drying both your skates and gloves. It even has an attachment that has 5 fingers to pump air into each finger stall (http://www.amazon.com/PEET-Dryer-GDP..._bxgy_hi_img_b).
The key features of this item are:
The unit itself is pretty small so you can keep it tucked away when not in use and it disassembles easily if you want to take it with you on a road trip.
- It has a timer so you can turn it on and leave it while you sleep without worrying about it running all night
- It has a toggle switch to heat the air or not
- The air is forced, so its blowing air into the items not just letting hot air rise into it
With the price being so cheap, there's really no reason to not have one of these.

I think the crustiness comes from slow drying. Kinda like drying towels on a clothes line, they get crusty. But throw them in the dryer and they get fluffy. Then again, I'm not sure of the real science behind it.

Pretty much this. I have been using the same gloves for over a year and have dried them thoroughly from day #1 and there is no crust at all. The only time my gloves have gotten really crusty is when I was a younger kid who was lazy about drying his stuff out.
Think how great brand new gloves feel when you put them on. The idea is to prolong that feeling as long as you can.
I've been using this for a few weeks now and I've had no crusty problems. Gloves feel great. The air comes out very gently, so it's not like a hair dryer. Also, I use the cool setting so the leather doesn't harden up like it might if you used a hotter setting.
I use this dryer every time but with NO HEAT for my gloves and skates. I also have a "DRY GUY" stand for the rest of my gear and I love this thing. Always after every game my gear is hung up and air turned on. Never in the bag for more then 2 hours. It really keeps things fresh and not crusty.
