Default Looking for Advice on New Gear

Hey all, I'm looking to get a full set of new gear. I've been looking really hard at the Passau and Don Simmons sets. I'm a little nervous about the sizing and buying online because I haven't bought new legs pads, trapper, blocker or chest protector in over 8 years!!!! I am currently wearing 35" Itech Vamp 10.8. My style has changed with the times but my pads have not. I would say I play a Butterfly style but have to play some hybrid because I'm only 5'9". Also as much as I hate to admit it (being a Canucks Fan) the Tim Thomas comes out in my style sometimes as well. I'm new to this whole online blog/thread/dicussion forum thing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The really great part about Passau and the smaller guys is they can talk to you (even Skype!) to go through all of the options and sizing with you so that you're as comfortable as can be before making a purchase. I'd definitely recommend giving them a call since you're interested in them in particular.

I had a set of Simmons 996's before i ordered my Passau set. I can tell you that the quality of the Passau is like nothing else ive seen. I have no doubt that they will last a very long time. The pads are way stiffer than my Simmons as well. This unfortuanetely hasnt translated into no V fly. Im still trying to fix that but so far no luck. What i really like is the Passau chesty, and im def not alone on that. Everyone else who has one loves it as well. Also if you buy the whole set you get it for $350. I payed $550 for my Bauer pro and the Passau is 100 times better. I was honestly nervous as well about ordering onlinenhaving never seen the product. I also have not owned that many sets of pads, so knowing exactly what to get was hard. That is where Passau really stood out to me. Hugo asked a lot of questions and really listened to my concerns. He added a bunch of customizations to help me get the best pads for me and how i play.
I dont regret my purchase at all and i would strongly recommend Passau to anyone.

I dont know much about the passau pads, but you should at very least get the simmons 996 glove. Its a great piece, and passau's gloves arent quite up to par just yet.

Can you expand on this? Im looking to replace my glove in the next few months, I was considering Passau. Have you used the Passau glove? If so how does it compare?

I have Passau Pads and chesty, and will be ordering stick soon too.

Both Simmons and Passau have excellent customer service, but Passau went that much further and won my business in the end.

I dont think you will be dissapointed with either set as they are both great quality. How ever I would def get the Passau chesty even if you go Simmons for the rest of the gear.

As i said i had Simmons pads before my Passau and the Passau is definetely a better built pad. Simmons customer service was good as well, but as Scotty said Passau went that extra mile.

Check out the video review section of the forum. You get a view of the gear 'on' and off the ice so you can eyeball what you may or may not like.

Yeah the Video Reviews from Goalie Crease Network were what drew me to Simmons first and then Passau. Thanks for the info guys!!!

Honestly, I would say go with Passau. Simmons has a good product, but they don't have the needed details to make it last. My Matrix 3 chest is good, but they missed the little details like some sewing errors and using eyelets that rust. I haven't heard any of those issues with Passau, so with those little changes I'd say check out Passau.
