    Default GEAR

My 10 yr son is currently using a set of Vaught 7250 pads and he is in intermediates next season, has anyone had geat success with the simmons or Mckenney gear? Price is a great seller, and the Simmons and Mckenny gear is cheaper. He loved his Brian's razor gear that he had before the Vaughn pads and Rebok gloves he is using. Any thoughs anyone?

A lot of the guys on here love the Simmons stuff. I'm sure some of them will chime in here for sure. Price is your best feature with them for sure; although that being said...I'd still rather buy a set of used Brians or Vaughns, but that's just because I'm not a fan of Simmons...lol

I would say Simmons gear would be the better of the two choices. Also if he's liked Reebok before, move him in to the 995/996 gear, as it's similar.

    Exactly.

Never played in McKenney gear, but I've seen it up close and I'm never impressed. Granted, I haven't seen the newest models, but I'd go with Simmons.

Was thinking of the Simmons knock off of the Vaughns for pads as he did not like the RBK pads(an ebay purchase) and again with the RBK style glove as he dispised the Vaughn glove(another ebay purchase). Starting to see a few pros going with that combo as well, we do not follow the trends but generally try gear in the store and see what he likes. That is the reasoning behind the questions. I did use a set of the McKenney hybrids my last year playin rec, I liked them as they were simple and acted like my helite III pads, but I have not played in 7 years so I am out of the gear loop.

    Thanx for the replies

So he could go with the UL6 pads, and the 995 gloves.

Was looking on the Simmons site and it says the UL6 pads are based on the Vaughn line and the 995 is based on the t5500 wich was the best glove Vaugh has made, too bad no one makes a M/L 3000 knock off. Maybe me and the boy will have to give it a shot.

Unless.... anyone knows where I can find a set of used Vaughn 30+1 pads, his RBK gloves might last him this season, unless he gets some stingers!!

    LOL
