Default Jimmy Howard - Vaughn equipment

I looked up Jimmy Howard's career. How does a guy who has spent most of his professional career in the AHL get special versions of his equipment put out by Vaughn? I'm not saying he's a flash in the pan but aren't there better goalies out there with more time in the NHL who would get a special version. Unless, Jimmy or Goalie Monkey has an insider with the Vaughn organization, then I don't know.

Vaughn was counting on Jimmy to be the goalie of the future for Detroit when they made him an endorsee and thats a big deal. There are better goalies but when you have the starting goalie for Detroit (big hockey city of course), then your doing something special. A few months ago he went to the GoalieMonkey superstore and i wanted to go key his car and throw eggs at him but it was a school night lol

Well that's not really any different than a completely new line (Koho 700s which were just Koho 590 remakes) being produced for a goalie like Jonas Hiller during his first season in the NHL. And what has Hiller done since?

Hiller has been using Kohos ever since he was back with HC Davos in Switzerland. He uses Koho because it best suits his style. His Kohos are straight and stiff like Niemi's pads and they have the rolls like Millers pads. And obviously Michigan is a MUCH bigger hockey state then California will ever be so its a good place to endorse for Vaughn

Even still, I don't see the point in putting faith in someone who was only in the spotlight for one season. Literally creating a whole new line that still doesn't have much of a following that I've seen was kind of a bad business move if you ask me.

We'll see how Vaughn's play on Jimmy Howard works out.

Yeah but I think Vaughn and Jimmy have had ties since his AHL days. I think when they came upon this endorsement, it was more of a long-term thing then anything. And a Detroit goalie is always in the spotlight. He was a Calder trophy candidate so that was the first step into Vaughns diabolical plans. Vaughn is counting on Jimmy to be pretty much a starter for a long time in Detroit.

It will play out quite well for Vaughn I'm sure...especially if Jimmy wears the retros this year too because there is a huge shift to that colour scheme lately for goalie equipment. As soon as he wears them...everyone is going to want them too. As much as I dislike Detroit...I do like Jimmy. Whats not to like? He wears Vaughns and wears 35. He's OK in my books, even if he has to done that crappy ass terrible red jersey with the outdated logo...lol

Don't forget that Vaughn's U.S. plant is in Oxford, MI, about 45 minutes and 47 miles north of Joe Louis Arena, so having Howard and now Osgood in Vaughn gear (he ditched the Bauer stuff, save his blocker and stick) equal both serious advertising for a brand on its home turf and fast turnaround times--having to ship the gear to Toronto and back included--should Howard or Osgood require a "tweak" or two to their equipment.

Vaughn and Brian's (which is located in Kingsville, ON, about 45 minutes southeast of Detroit) have fought pretty hard for the Wings and their prospects over the past couple of years--in the AHL and ECHL, Joey MacDonald's in all Vaughn gear, stick included, as he's been for a while, Jordan Pearce is an all-Vaughn guy, despite a serious push from Vaughn, Thomas McCollum wears Brian's gear in Grand Rapids, and when Petr Mrazek came to the Wings' prospect tournament in all Reebok gear, he left wearing a Vaughn glove and blocker.

When was Osgood in Bauers? I thought he used Brian's pads.

And MacDonald hasn't played for Detroit or it's affiliates in 2-3 years.
