my bad, cage is for an Eddy pro. You can have a custom cage made by either OTNY or Olympia. My next cage is a Thomas clone to fit around a VanVeldon mask.

Jude- The mask makers name is Shawn Schroder, I think he is out of Torrence. I'll send you a PM with his eMail.

Did you get someone to make a TT clone for your VV? I have one too and need a new cage.

No, not yet. Too much $$. I put my savings towards a new Passau set instead. Next piece of equipment is a C/A, then maybe the TT clone. I currently use a "cheater" (grid style cage with larger holes) and like it a lot.

I wear a certified cage because I think they are safer than cateye.

I have always used cat-eye cages, but I've wanted to try using a cheater cage for a while. When I ordered my new mask from Ed Cubberly, I decided use the Beaupre/cheater cage, which is similar to the Tim Thomas cage, but the two center bars are placed further apart. I haven't had a chance to use it yet due to a knee injury, but the peripheral vision is noticeably better than a cat-eye and I am very curious to see how good the vision is on ice. I did check and a stick blade does not fit into the gaps in front of the eyes, but a stick but does fit, though to be fair a stick butt will fit in the gaps of the cat-eye cage on my Hackva too. Here is a picture of my Cubberly mask with the Beaupre cage and below that is a picture of the Cubberly next to a Hackva with a cat-eye cage:

I should finally be able to try out the new cage/mask in early May and if it bothers me for any reason, then I'll probably revert to a cat-eye, since I'm used to wearing those.

When I was growing up I used a regular cage (because minor hockey permits it). When I got my new Sportmask a couple years ago I went with a cat eye cage. I love it, I can see really well and feel very safe wearing it...

I had always played with a certified cage, but often wondered if a cat-eye would help my vision. I had a cat-eye on my second mask, before I quit playing for a few years, and noticed a big diference in my vision. Since being back (approximately 10 months) I have been using a lower level RBK with the certified cage. I recently ordered a custom hackva with a cat-eye cage and I am really looking forward to receiving it for the protection (the mask itself should be a huge improvement over what I have), the looks (I just HAVE to loog good!), and the improved vision. Now if I could just play anywhere near as good as I'm gonna look, lol...

When i was growing up i use to always wear a cateye for street hockey and i stayed with a cateye until the cage of my VV died so while i was waiting for protechsport i used my dads of certified eddy and found the sightlines way better in that then the cateye, i use a certified on my protechsport but i would mind trying a cheater cage
