Default Input on protection for neck/ribs/collar bone

So, on Tuesday I took a hard slap shot straight to my collar bone (which I fractured 5 years previous). Ended up cracking it again and I'm out for a couple weeks. Somehow it missed my chest protector. I don't have the plastic neck guard that hangs off the mask.

What I'm wondering is... what do you guys prefer? I saw a undershirt that has padding on the ribs, neck, and collar bone area. Or should I just buy the plastic guard that hangs from the helmet? I heard they are slightly annoying and hard to get used to.

If you have any other suggestion I'm open to it! Let me know what you guys use/like!

I've personally never found the dangler really distracting at all, I guess it just depends on the person. If you are looking to avoid it all together check out the crouch neck guard, it's super protective in the neck area and still allows for great head rotation! The Goalie Crease

I know it'll get hit... but what do you think about the dangler?

I've got a Dangler and I don't notice it once the game starts, in warmup or if it moves into an odd position but otherwise it becomes completely invisible to me. The only real issue I ever had was the first dangler I had was really lose so it bumped around alot but since it broke and I replace it no problems at all.

In before all the Maltese wearers.

I'm a dangler wearer. I also go with the Bauer N18.. best, in my opinion. Of course, the other day I was at the store and this kid and his dad are looking at a wall of Vaughn danglers kind of confusingly so I said, "The Bauer's are along this back wall." And they go, "Oh, okay." And I said, "If it makes any difference, I prefer the Bauer ones." To which the dad says, "Well the Vaughn's don't break," and just turned around and looked all snobbish. Man, any dangler can break. I've maybe had 5 danglers in my lifetime, I'd bet.. two NXis and three Bauers (or something like that).

    Anyway, I prefer a dangler.

Preference will normally rule the day but that doesn't always make it right. Danglers, IMNSHO, provide a false sense of security. The gpsCombo from Maltese Hockey provides unparalleled protection that can be trusted to be where you expect it to be. The protection provided is from both blunt force trauma (impact) as well as cutting. The comfort cannot be matched either.::m

I wear a dangler. Last night, it was slightly out of position due to me turning my head to track the puck and it caught on my jersey. A slapshot came in and hit the dangler, causing it to scrape across my neck. Now I have a nice "dangler rash". I'm looking into double coverage now.
