    Default Mustangs93's Season

So as most of you know since this is basically goalieforum #2 my team went 1-16-1 last year. This year we are turning it around big time, we're 4-0-1 after tonights game. We beat a 4-1-0 team 4-1 (but it was 2-1 until the last 8 seconds) and I made 50 saves on 51 shots and we are just rolling. I've stolen both games against are tough opponents Cheverus (51 saves, 51 shots, 1-0 win) and Yarmouth (50 saves, 51 shots, 4-1 win) so far and we are up near the top of the standings. So we're riding pretty high right now after going in as the under dog and coming out with a big win. Here are a few online articles for now:

MASSABESIC/OOB 1, CHEVERUS 0: Tyler Albert scored a power-play goal in the first period and Kyle McClay made 51 saves as the Mustangs blanked the Stags at Portland Ice Arena.

Goalies -- Deering, Jackson Stevens (27 shots - 21 saves)
Massabesic, Kyle Maclay (57 shots - 51 saves)

Tyler Albert (5-3-8), a senior transfer from Biddeford is leading the offense, while junior goalie Kyle Maclay has stopped all but two of the 73 shots fired at him to date.

So far my up to date season stats are:

    GP: 4.33
    Starts: 5
    GAA: 3
    Shots: 199
    Saves: 186
    Sv%: .934
    Shots per game: 46.2
    Record: 4-0-1

I feel great after this, I'm rebounding off of last season so well and this is looking to be our first winning season in about 7 years. Can't wait to get the video of this game up:):o

We had a decent article in the paper at our win vs. Yarmouth and we beat Sanford 7-2 yesterday so we are 5-0-1. And we play another very good team tomorrow so hopefully we can keep it going.

Damn...rough game. We lost 5-0. I had 5 goals on 39 shots and got pulled after the second. One goal was out right horrible, I was in a lazy load position and the player slipped it under my pad and three others were very stoppable. One got tipped 5 hole, I was off angle on a point blank shot and got sniped blocker side, and then I couldn't hold the rebound on a breakaway and it got tapped in by the next player. And the other goal was coming at my mid-high and got tipped just under the crossbar by a player about 4 feet away. And I honestly don't think we played that team any worse than we played our other close wins, I think after we got down the team gave up. I should have had a one goal game and I think the team would have went 10 times harder in the 3rd and scored a couple. This loss is a little bit demoralizing.

The beauty of it is, there's always another game. Don't fret over what you can't control, just focus next time around and stop them all.

lol @ John37... Like Cman said, they're the same kid. Luckily, the kid in question appears to have matured plenty.

Sucks to have a tough loss like that Kyle. Bounce back next game. You probably weren't ready to face only 39 shots compared to your normal amount :p
Some people just deserve a high five... to the face.

We've played two games since the last game I posted. We lost the following game 4-3. We were down 3-0 going into the third and got like 3 minutes on a 5 on 3 and scored 3 goals. And then they scored on a 5 on 3 powerplay with 50 seconds left in the third. And I still don't even know what I could have done about that goal, there were four players in front of the net and the puck was shot from the circle and went in on the ice far side. I could have played much better, but it wasn't a horrible game, we probably should have won.

Then we killed the next team 8-1. I got to the rest of the night off after the first because we were up 4-0. But teams like that don't really matter when it comes to the point system because they are not worth much.

    New stats:

    GP: 7.023
    Games Started: 9
    Record: 5-2-1
    GA: 24
    GAA: 3.42
    Shots: 305
    Saves: 281
    Sv%: .921

Our next game is Thursday, the team we play isn't worth much. And then the following game Saturday we have to beat that team one of the two times we play to have a chance to make the playoffs.
