    Default Rules of the net

As a new goalie Im not sure about my rights when an opposing player parks themselves in my crease. I poked her a few time because she we behind my elbow right in my crease. She didnt leave so finally I pushed her sending her out of the crease on her butt. I got a penalty for roughing...was this right or do i have the right to 'clear my crease'?

I am not 100% sure on ruels etc I will let someone else field that question....

How ever I will say this..... It's not YOUR job to clear the front of your net, it's your D!! They should make sure that there is no one blocking or obstructing your view of the puck, you should only have to focus on the shot at hand.

Tell your D to look for this.

Hopefully someone else will let you know whats within the rules here

In our league they can't be in the crease without the puck, or the whistle gets blown and the puck taken outside the zone.

General rule is the blue paint is the goalie's and he/she has rights to it unless the offensive player has possision and enters or the puck enters first and then they may enter to take shots. Usually as Itech said the puck is taken out of the zone for a faceoff. Now, about the roughing. That can be called roughing as well, that is up to the ref. If he feels you didn't need to use that much force, but that is a judgement call, I personally, as a ref, wouldn't call that but that is I think up to the ref. He may not have seen the player in the paint, and just saw the aftermath and made it upon that, but making calls that way is bad refereeing anyways. I say protect your crease as a goalie, but also maybe talk to the ref if there is a lot of intruding, because then they can watch for it.

I didn't mention yesterday cause I was in a hurry. Guys that come in my crease will get shoved, slashed, punched, and tripped as much as possible. I try an deter them from coming back in my crease the next time. I get calls probably once every 3 games, and anytime my team has given me **** for it... I just tell them that they're constantly in the penalty box for the same stuff, I need to get my licks in too.

I used to be really rough around my crease, but in my "old age" I've calmed down. I've actually found that by ignoring that pesky forward, he's less inclined to keep doing it. If you hack and slash, they just whine to the ref and keep doing it. Sometimes I'll even try to agitate them a bit with talking. "Aren't you a bit short to be trying to screen me?" Sometimes I get him listening to me too much and he forgets to move with the play. Works for me, at least.

Same here but I slash, push, and whatever else I need to do. Refs give me a warning but hell high school refs are awful anyway.

I usually just give them a push with my glove to get them off balance or to make them realize I don't want them there. If they keep intruding in my crease area, the "reminders" escalate. I had one guy put his rear in my face so many times (even after a quick chop on the ankles) that I cross-checked him in the back. That finally got the message across.

Now that I think of it, I have put my stick through their legs, and pulled as well as my D (sometimes) pushing and shoving, but the stick thing doesnt work well for us a it can render your stick useless if caught
