Ok Ron emailed me and it looks like he is setting up a camp at 8rinks for January, it will most likely be either the Saturday or Sunday 9:00am-10:15am time slot. I will keep you updated when dates are actually confirmed.
YAHOOOOZZER! finally something works in my flavour!

I don't normally do drop-in, but I will say that with 13 sheets of ice all within 45 minutes of each other with a population of only 300,000, there never seems to be any damn ice available!
I'm in Island Hockey 101. There's 50 teams over 6 different tier skill levels. I have a team in that league, and I am listed in the spare goalie section. This alone helps me play at least twice a week (Not nearly enough I might add!) plus once per week or so with my team.
Drop-in is very odd here on the island. The arenas themselves have poor ice-slots for their own organized drop-ins, and they're all first come first serve (phone in the morning of to get a spot). The problem is that people have taken it upon themselves to organize their own groups of people to play, and the same people have had the same ice slots for years, so they're perfect ice slots. Example: Island Hockey 101 started up about 6 years ago, and the only ice slots they can ever seem to get are 9 - 10:45pm slots, with the majority at 10pm. Each team plays about once per week, so you can imagine how much our league is paying these arenas, and yet the excuse from the arenas about these poor ice slots is: "the other guys were here first". They book time at every arena except 3, and this is the case at every arena.
The other problem is minor hockey. Every arena has at least one minor hockey team at each level playing out of the arena, and they get priority, which is generally from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays, and all day on the weekends.
So the moral of my ranting story is that the arenas themselves don't organize anything that's really that good for drop-in that I know of.
Also, their websites are nonsensical at best, so finding the monthly schedule (They change every month or so) is a chore to say the least. So I just don't bother.
Let me know next time you will be in Victoria however, and I will let you know if there's any drop-in during that time, and where.

Hey guys,
Zach Sikitch is coming to Vancouver on Dec 28/29. He's running a main camp out in Delta in the wee hours of the morning. I talked to him and he said he may be interested in offering a smaller group session at Burnaby 8-Rinks if there's interest.
Any interest?
