I inherited the #1 jersey when I joined my current team.
When we were getting new jerseys before this season, I could have switched numbers. I thought about #27, but stuck with #1.
Why?
Because I'm #1. That's why!

This is a discussion on What is your Goalie Number? And why did you choose that one? within the The Locker Room forums, part of the The Goalie Crease category; I've been wearing #1 the last 2 years. During my youth I wore #33 as I was a big Patrick ...
I've been wearing #1 the last 2 years. During my youth I wore #33 as I was a big Patrick Roy fan (who wasn't?) When I joined my current team a forward was wearing 33 for some reason so I had to wear #1. :)

Of course he was! He's awesome!
In Holtby we trust
I wear #1. Basically because the Goalie is the only one that can pull off wearing it and in the end it come down to just 1 person, the goalie. My Favourite goalie of all time is Grant Fuhr who wore 31. I have worn his number before in Minor Hockey. One year I actually wore #4 when I was like 11 or 12 because it was the biggest jersey in the team set. haha.
#1 for me. Mostly, it's because I'm a fan of tradition. More recently, however, I came to like it even more because it was Johnny Bower's number. I read that his eyesight made his career challenging for him. Not having the greatest eyesight myself, he's kind of a personal hero for me, now. :) (And he backstopped the Leafs' last Cup winning team as well.)

I'm at a crossroads. Right now my number is #1, and I hate it. It's not me. It was on the jersey that was given to me. It's uncomfortable, typical, and just not me.
I typically choose my number based on my synesthestic.. "impressions" (? .... not sure how else to explain it). Basically, one of the kinds of synesthesia I have is called "number-form" where numbers have particular colors, shapes, sizes, and "personalities," so I would normally choose a number that "looks" most like me. Odd, I know. Through travel, high school, Juniors, and my first two years of college I was 39. That was annoying since people kept asking me if I was a fan of Hasek, but really it's just how I saw my body style. But then as I got "bigger" I changed to 43 since 39 is a "skinny" number to me and 43 is more... "medium."
I want to change my number next year, but I'm not sure what I'll go with. In one sense I'd like 33 since Roy was my favorite goalie, but 33 is an ultra-skinny number and doesn't fit me at all. 35 is okay, but it's a bit typical. 31 is boring. 29 isn't terrible. 37 is too fat. 30 is fat, too. 39 is skinny, of course. 41 isn't bad, either. Or maybe I'll just go back to 43.
oh crikey he is off his meds again ^^^ lol
The ONLY thing better than tea with Miss McGill
Since I'm new to goaltending I don't have a jersey with a number on it yet, but I plan on porting over my numbers as a skater...314 (since I couldn't get decimals in there) and 42.
On my blocker I plan on airbrushing the words "Don't Panic"
