I've seen it played a few times and have messed around on a sledge... It's really hard if you don't have any upper arm strength [like me].
This is a discussion on Sledge Hockey within the The Locker Room forums, part of the The Goalie Crease category; Anyone played this? If you have, I might have a few questions for you....

It must be hard for the goalies as they have to defend a regular sized net.
The ONLY thing better than tea with Miss McGill
True, but the players have smaller sticks as well and have less leverage to get the puck up into the net. There is always that goalie mentality as well - we're a special breed, no matter what kind of hockey we play. The goalie on our local team gets helped out there [don't know if that's because of a disability though] and gets a cut down goalie stick, catcher, and blocker. He wears a goalie chesty too, but no leg pads - just shin guards.
The Griffins [AHL affiliate of Red Wings] play a charity game against the Sled Wings [our area sled hockey team, kids and young adults with leg-related disabilities; one is on the national junior team, hoping to represent US at the paralympics someday.] every year; so fun to watch the guys tip over and crash into stuffThe Sled Wings always win... Griffins aren't good at sled hockey.
my friend plays sledge hockey, he says it is really fun
In Holtby we trust
I know the starter for the Team USA Paraolympic sledge hockey team. Good guy, and even ended up winning some ESPN award for it a few years ago.
Interestingly, he's a much better sledge hockey goalie than "real hockey" goalie. While he was the starter on Team USA, he was our team's fourth string goalie (or backup on the B team, if you will). Great guy, though, and not a bad goalie at all. You'd never realize he was missing half a leg.
