This is a discussion on Goals for 2012 within the The Locker Room forums, part of the The Goalie Crease category; I think I'll bite on this one and put some goals of my own up. 1. Drop some weight. I ...
I think I'll bite on this one and put some goals of my own up.
1. Drop some weight. I won't say how much, or where I'm starting from - just that I need to start shedding some pounds. I've got an ultimate goal set for myself, and am bound and determined to get there. Tired of lugging around more weight than I need to in the crease.
2. Improve butterfly slides, and the recovery coming out of them. Back when I first started playing goal, I developed the bad habit of always using the same leg to get up and recover after dropping to the ice. Because of this, I don't have nearly the leg strength in my left leg that I do in my right, and it's hurt my ability to both recover efficiently, and transition directly into a slide when I'm already on the ice. Just have to be more conscious of what I'm actually doing in net.
3. Work on playing the puck. This is another downfall of my game. It happens very rarely when I actually leave my crease to play the puck. For all the anticipation and reaction/reflexes that go into goaltending, my judging of how quick I need to move to play a puck behind the net or something is awful. I think it's partially because I'm not as confident in my skating as I should be, and that little bit of hesitation gets in my head.
4. Make it to the final in my annual Las Vegas hockey tournament. I, like a lot of others that go down for this tournament regularly, are tired of not going anywhere in the actual tournament. We've come close to making it out of the round robin portion, but have yet to actually do so. Basically, it's a 4 team division, play every team once, and the top 2 teams play in the final. Last year we got screwed by division placement, and I'd like to think we can make up for that this year.
5. Work on flexibility. This one is primarily an attempt to widen out the butterfly - I'm hoping to make some time to go through the widening challenge in the near future, and see how that goes for me.
To everyone here, all the best in 2012!

Scoring wins fans, but goaltending wins championships
1. Get my first win. I've come close with a 7-6 otl.
2. Stop giving up so many goals.
3. Work on my angles.
4. Get more ice time to practice.
5. Lose a little more weight. I've already dropped 65lb's in the past year. 240 down to 175.
6. Stretch alot more.
1. Get my max bench press to 225 (currently 180)
2. Gain 15 lbs (currently 155)
3. Play in the NAHL
1.) get more playing time (currently only 1 min)
2.) lose all the fat on my body (specifically stomach)
3.) possibly find a new school to play for (where i have a better chance of starting)
4.) move up from 3rd to back up permanatly
5.) improve all aspects of my game, including get new sexier gear
since 3 is a possibility i'll give another possibility, full time coaching job during the summer at Jon Elkin's Goaltending. he indirectly asked me to but gotta finalize it
Hmmmm.....I have to think about it.....
1. Easy - get my new mask and get it painted.
2. Get new goalie pants.
3. Improve my lateral movement to raise my game to another level. Perhaps getting off my butt and building a slideboard would be a good start.
4. Finish my Jacuzzi room - nice to hop in and relax!
5. Drag my flab onto the treadmill again.

My main goal for 2012 is to make this site even better.
The main thing I want to work on in my hockey game is to fix an issue where I tend to sit back in my butterfly sometimes. I need to get myself to be upright every time it's possible.

I want to make a varsity team next fall. Improve my cardio and work on my skating so my t-pushes and shuffles are more powerful in the net.
