And he's still got 9 years left on his contract! The guy has only played 46 games in the last 4 seasons... COMBINED..!

The Islanders are used to paying players not to play. Remember Alexei Yashin??? The Isles are paying him 2.2 Million a season until the end of the 2014-2015 Season!!!! GOOD HEAVENS!!! I feel bad for my fellow Lefty D.P. but not that bad.... like EDM said he's getting paid for nearly another decade!

This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off about pro sports. Its not about the game anymore its about the money. And its greed and stupidity that contracts like this come out of. Now this once dynasty franchise is hooped for a decade. They might even lose the team all because greed and stupidity got in the way of better judgment. After the lockout i really thought the owners had smartend up and fixed a lot of the salary issues in the NHL. But then these idiots set a pesedence with these ridiculous contracts. Now there are a bunch of them out there. Hell how long is Crosby signed for and he may never play again. What about Luongo? Do you think he is going to get better with age? I look at it the same way if you gave anyone a guaranteed salary for just showing up to work. Whats the incentive to do your job well?
Its all just so wrong on so many levels to me.
    Sorry for the rant!

Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you could not wake up from that dream, how would you tell the difference between the real world and the dream?
