It's one thing to have your players screen the goalie - expected. But to teach kids to snow the goalie, crash the goalie, run the goalie, and smack at him with your stick = total crap.
Apparently, there are youth coaches instructing their players to do exactly that. My son was speared with the butt end of a stick as well as slashed/cross checked across his back while covering the puck during the same game. (These were not players digging at a puck to get it loose.) We were playing a team in the same association with the coaches mentioned above. And not just an idle rumor - talked to the family that removed their player from the team for those instructions.
Don't Think, Just Do!
I got my nick name from my older brother. I used to be known as goalie29 and he asked why that name. I told him it was because I was a hockey goalie and my jersey number. He thought it was too generic and didn't say the sport I played. So, I switched to puckgoalie.
we were at a tournament and had one of those games where we were on our defensive heels a lot. I had made a bunch of saves and one of my teammates skated over to me and said " I love it when you're crazy!!!!" I liked the alliteration with K's so krazykeeper has stuck![]()
Mine is my nickname, I've had it since the fifth grade when it was given to me by my band teacher because I needed a nickname and it just stuck ever since, and I love it.
My Name is the simplest of all.... my first initial and my last name. It stemmed from my younger days when we had name bars on our jersey's and for some reason mine was 'B. HILL' even though there was no other Hills on the team. Some teammates just call me 'B'. It also extends outside of the rink basically everyone calls me B-Hill except for my family. I wish I had a great story about my nickname but as we all know hockey players aren't the most creative when it comes to giving each other nicknames.
I'm the dad of a goalie who's nickname is Stonewall, hence the user name!
I've been called Otter four going on 25 years now... i also go by akaOtter depending on availability (ie. PSN).
Watch the movie National Lampoons Animal House, you'll get the idea.
I also like otters, but that came up after the name stuck. there are still friends I have (that i don't see often) that don't know my real name. I use Otter almost as much as my own name.
