I liked the rink. Here on the west coast, we dont have stands and amenities like what was shown in the commercial. Best we have at my local rink is a few aluminum bleachers that are freezing cold to sit on. Of course I've only been to about four different ice rinks around here.

Haha - that was awesome!
When I was in high school we had an intramural floor hockey league - the championship game was always well attended by fellow students. I don't care what level you're playing at - having people show up and cheer is pretty amazing no matter what. :)
"When I was a kid, everyone called me crazy for playing goal, but they were the ones chasing after the puck while I just let it come to me." - Ron Tugnutt
"Remember - keep your head up. Hockey players are knuckleheads. Not as much as goalies, but well...." -- K. Benson
Sometimes you don't miss it til it's gone. We would get tons of students watching our high school games, so they were fun to play. Then I got to college and because of traveling and no one having a home rink, no one would come out at all. One of our teammates was a frat guy, though, and invited all of his frat guys to come out to a game, and they did. It was fantastic having all those people watching and cheering.
What Syn is saying couldn't be more true. A jammed barn is one of the most exhilarating things I have ever experienced; yet looking back, I realize I took it for granted. It wasn't until senior night (last home game) of my senior year in HS that I took a moment to soak it in, and it was amazing. I had the opportunity to coach for my high school a couple years ago, and throughout the season I couldn't help but flashback to high school every time the lights went dark as the players stepped on the ice.
I wish that was shown on the US Super Bowl broadcast!
Midget B games usually had 1-5 fans in the stands.
Intramural college ice hockey games had around 1 to 10 fans in the stands.
C league men's league games had about, on average, 0 fans.

I said it on Facebook, but I'll say it again: if you don't tear up at the end of that video, you never dreamt of making it big in the sport about which you're so passionate. I damn near squeak out a tear watching that video. That had to be so awesome.
Agree with you 100%. I think my favorite part of that video is near the end - the guy sitting on the ice against the boards, soaking it all in and just kind of giggling to himself.
I've never played in front of a crowd of more than like 10 people, so I can't speak to it from a personal level, but to experience something like that would have been an absolutely incredible rush.

I would love for that to happen at one of my games. Had a few games with large crowds in high school and the atmosphere was unreal. some of the best times I had in high school hockey and I was backing up for those games.
