So, apparently, tripping a forward who is in your crease is frowned upon . . . oops. (To be fair, I tugged at his skates with my stick right as we regained control of the puck, but he should have been called for a crease violation while they had it.)

He was a whiny little XXX so he deserved it. And we killed the penalty and won, so it's all good.

I had some players in a game a few weeks ago always buzzing through the top of my crease. So, I just turned my stick blade out, guy skated right into it and spilled into the corner. No call for me!

I've had that once or twice. Last time I remember was during an inter-office company tournament, and after I made the initial stop, and the puck had gone into the corner, the forward that had been screening me went to go chase the puck. I put out my stick while I was in the process of getting back to my feet, and hooked him around the waist. He went down pretty easy, and ended up drawing the penalty - which in this tournament equalled a penalty shot. Stopped the shot, and we wound up going on to place third in the tournament, so it's all good. Most of us knew each other anyway (including the ref's) so it was all in good fun.

I've gotten away with pushes when they're in (or near) my crease, but this was a pretty blatant trip. The ref said "they didn't have possession so it wasn't a crease violation." Except they weren't paying attention for when he was screening me and they did have the puck. Next time I'll push.

Usually a ref won't care if you're pushing him in front of the net, it's your area. One time a guy skated by my crease after a dump in and I was so pissed at how the game was going I hooked his skate and pulled as hard as I could. Obvious penalty, and my dad wasn't too happy after the game to say the least.

I received one penalty this season and it was a guy skated into my crease so i gave him a shove and he said "**** you goalie!" and tried to stomp on my stick so i blockered him in the face haha the guy got a unsportsmanlike conduct and goalie interfirence penalty and i got a roughing and we scored on the power play so it all worked out

I'm not much of a slasher or tripper. However, I like to mug as I call it. Depending on the situation, sometimes I will slide my stick under or chop down on top of the guys stick as I like to get way out on a slap/screen attempt. Less subtle but still effective I will wait just as the shooter is winding up and shove the back of the guys (obviously not the shooter) elbow. The reaction is pretty funny because they're not expecting that and it throws them off balance while taking their stick out of position for a possible deflection.

Nothing seems to phase my son when he plays net, not even when he gets scored on. Sometimes if he lets a bad one in I can see how bad he fells about it, but I think few other people can. He's played goalie for six seasons and I don't recall him ever getting a penalty.

This season the other goalie my son shares goalie duties with is quite high strung and can really throw a fit during a game when thing don't go right.

I went to play the puck once. Forward skated right into my stick and fell down. I got a tripping call. And the worst part is I actually touched the puck first
It takes a special kind of person to pick the most brutal position in all of sports and fall in love with it.

Well, it is a good call by the ref. The fact he didn't call him for being in your crease was not good.
