    Default Goalie Signings 2010/2011

    Unrestricted Free Agent Goalies.

I figured we need a thread for all talk of goalies resigning, or signing with new teams during the off season.

I'm interested in seeing where Turco and Vokoun end up.

"Lightning GM Steve Yzerman is another new guy on the job who will be looking to make a splash. If the Habs decide to deal a goalie — Carey Price or Jaroslav Halak — the Bolts will likely be there to make a pitch. Unless he can be convinced otherwise, longtime C Vincent Lecavalier will invoke his no-movement clause, so he likely won’t be going anywhere." - Toronto Sun

Yeah, I about choked on my coffee when I read yesterday that SY was w/ Tampa. Last I heard he was a front office dude for Detroit.

One thing where ever he works, how would you like to negotiate a contract with him especially if you argue your guy has played hurt? I dont SY would be too impressed.

Huet is gone from Chicago but they have to trade him or send him to the minors the latter of which I hope doesnt happen. He may have lost his jock (read confidence) the last 1/3rd of the season but he's a standup dude with the press and a great teammate.
Wonder how much Niemi will cost...he had a one year deal at something like $400 G. He is a restricted free agent according to the papers, and the Hosers are going to have some cap issues.

On the list above, got to think that Turco and Nabakov should get pretty tasty short term deals.

Btw, I caught a Canucks v. Wings game from a few years ago in NHL Network; what happened to Dan Cloutier?

Shark will not sign Nabokov that's my thoughts...
Evgeniy isn't the goalie for playoffs.I think Turco will be someone's backup next year like it was in the end of this regular season.
And Jose...Well I never thought he'll rise from the ashes but he did and I think Caps will stick with him for another season...

Jose has a history of playing well in his contract year, so i wouldn't sign him to more than a one year deal. I think Dan Ellis is the best goalie in the free agent market, because he has the potential to be an unbelievable goalie, he will be top nhl goalie in 3 years.

Dan Ellis played really well in short periods of time for the preds. He also allowed the goal from center ice against Detroit in the playoffs 2 years ago, which quickly changed all momentum. It would be a shame to see him take off though - I don't think the Preds are being all that smart with keeping only Rinne and having a rookie as a backup...

I wonder where Nabokov will go... definitely not a playoff goalie. Hell, I didn't even think much of him during the regular season. I always figured Toskala was a notch above, until that got reversed when he went to Toronto...

Side note, anybody hear how the Leafs are supposedly going to make Dion captain? Read about it today in the paper, makes sense to me. They need someone as captain there. Haven't had a proper one since Sundin left.
