Not sure what I was thinking, but I've gotten myself involved in a lot of hockey this coming week. I think it is partially due to the fact that I've got my new pads, and want to take every opportunity to break them in.
So Wednesday night is the last game of the calendar year in my winter league, against the last team that had posted a victory against us. Should be a barn burner, but I'm already missing a good number of my regular skaters. It'll probably also be the retirement game
So I'm in my third season with my VACHL team this year, but there is a new twist. I'm now the team's captain. Our previous captain couldn't return to the team, so I've taken over the duties of keeping the team together. Unfortunately for me, this also means now I have to pay extra attention to stuff that goes on, on the ice. To be completely honest I have no clue what I'm getting into, but at least the organizational side of things goes hand in hand with my OCD. I've also been trying to verse
So the last few years, as I've been getting myself back into hockey, probably weren't helped by the fact that I was rapidly allowing myself to get out of shape. My numbers were never anything to remark about, probably a ~3GAA, ~0.85 save %.
But around 2 months ago, I started working out with a personal trainer. I decided to put the money I would have spent on new gear, towards getting myself in better shape. And the results were very apparent in the last 2 months of my playing.
