My son had 2 back-to-back games this past Sunday. His game was at 12:30. One of the teams playing at 2:00 was missing their goalie so they asked him he wanted to play. Who is going to turn down free ice/game????
The first game he lost 4-2. He just didn't look sharp. He gave up a couple of weak goals. The second game he lost 9-8. Before that game the most he gave up was 5 in a game. Not sure if he is maybe a little burned out or maybe just slumping. There is only 3 games left
My son played yesterday against the highest scoring team. He gave up 5 and the lost 6-4 (empty netter at the end). One of his good friends put 4 by him. My son's team was was up 2-0 after the 1st, 4-2 after the second and fell apart in the 3rd. It was a tough game they just didn't play a full 3 periods. This week he has travel practice Monday and in house practice Wednesday.
I mentioned in a recent blog entry that his brand new Warrior stick looks like it has a crack in the heel.
My son had his in house game Sunday and lost 2-0. It was tied 0-0 half through the second when his defense man accidently tipped a puck by him to make the score 1-0. After that his team spent most of the 3rd period shorthanded (3 penalties in the 3rd) and never could mount anything serious. A turnover created a 2 on 0 and the final was 2-0. Watching the game I thought it would be a 0-0 tie. Both goalies played well enough to win. They both stopped breakaways, shots, rebounds, you name it.
My son has travel hockey spring practice. His coach this season is the same as last season and he knows that my son played goalie and player last season. This year he is playing only goalie. The coach asked me if my son wanted to dress as a player on a couple of night because he wanted to do skating drills and that is not so much fun for a goalie. My son hates skating drills as a goalie but I personally like it for him. I would love to send him to a power skating clinic with goalie equipment
I stumbled onto a thread in one of the forums here that I thought was great for my son (9 years old)

The short gist of it to keep him high in the crease rather then sitting back. I told him the crease is blue, like the ocean. Next to the ocean is the sand (outside the crease). You are safer in the shallow water (top of the crease). After explaining this to him, I told him before
