i think it is a great techniquie if you are a large goalie but if you are 6' or shorter the deeper you play the more net you give the shooter to aim at. I think even for Louongo he gets beat on the first shot like the 4th goal last night.

Great read over at InGoal Mag. Remind yourself of this everyday.
Talks about playing deeper in your net, and why you would do that.

Thats pretty much what i was wondering. Just didnt want to be the 1st to say it. That article Schneids was more talking about breakaways though. I kind of get how the skating backwards could cause you problems. I think the NHL shooters are skilled enough to be able to time their shots to your stride to gain an advantage.
I've written this in my blocker, not to copy what Cory has done. But to remind myself in the same manner.
"Soccer players pretend they're hurt, Hockey players pretend they're not."
I have "Just Breath" written in German on my glove. I've done that for years. Because of my issue with panicking on breakaways, and just over all getting down on myself. As for size. I'm small at 5'6 and I find that if I get too deep I have more trouble stoping shots. Where as if I play at the top of the crease and dont get too overly deep im fine.
The article makes sense though. I think I might try tweaking my game friday in our 2 hour practice. (we rented the ice for two hours to just horse around and have fun...we kind of need it after everything thats happened) Good read though! Makes ya think!

I think the "idea" is good. The article has left out details on the theory or style. When I found that I was regularly getting "lost" shifting around the crease, I thought staying deeper would ensure I wouldn't be out of position. If I stayed in deeper, I found that I would not be out of position. I have a habit of wanting to tap the nearest post to know where I am. If I didn't feel it, I tried to look back. If I'm in deep, I would always feel the post. Just my two cents and I also have a save percentage of around 2% so take it with a grain of salt.
