I think that the goalie needs a safe area. If you make the trapezoid area behind the net, as well as 2-3 feet in front of the crease a safe zone i think that would work better. If the goalie ventures out of those, and has the puck he should be prepared to receive contact. That way the goalies that are willing to take that chance are prepared, and the ones that arent wont go there. If your prepared for the hit i dont think its such a big deal for goalies to receive contact, however an enexpecting goalie could be seriously hurt.
