It was a lucky, blind-sided slap. He could have missed. Fancy looking though... like he knew what he was doing... or something like that... look, I'm a Habs fan. I can't deal with Tim Thomas.

That was amazing. He does stuff like that too often for it to be by accident.
Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you could not wake up from that dream, how would you tell the difference between the real world and the dream?
I think it's likely a bit of both luck and skill, you have to have an idea of where the puck is to make that save but also be lucky enough to actually hit it, if he misses he looks kind of silly but none the less a nice stop

just short of a billion. seriously i wonder about thomas's awesomeness sometimes. he is so far out of position on a regular basis!
You can clearly see that he looks up, finds the puck, and turns around to swat it. So it wasn't a fluke. Maybe a little lucky that he timed it right to hit it...
I wouldn't call that an easy save though. Sure, any non NHL goalie could do it, but if you look at it like that, almost any highlight reel save *could* be done by a non-NHL goalie. I just think to find the puck in the air, and time it right to knock it away... that's what I call never giving up.
