Last year, I cut out diet soda. I was going through a lot of it daily. I couldn't stand drinking plain water at work so I put in flavoring. Slowly, I weaned off the flavoring and can drink water regularly. It wasn't easy. I had to force myself. I'm probably spending about $10 less a week just from not buying diet soda.

For a long time I would drink, literally, 10-12 sodas a day. Back when I was a kid I'd get home from school, make a bag of popcorn and grab two sodas and then sit at the computer and watch TV. That was it. Oh, and that was probably at about the same time when we'd go to McDonald's every day and I'd just get two super sized fries and a super size coke. I'm not even joking about every day. Literally every single day.
Oddly, cutting out soda isn't really a problem for me. My problem is I don't like water. And maybe not even "don't like," but "don't think about it." Like I said, a glass of water can sit in front of me and I won't drink it. Yesterday I had two glasses of water. Next to me right now is about a glass 1/10 full.. and I poured it 8 hours ago. It just doesn't occur to me to drink it.
When I cut out soda I replaced it with juice. Problem with juice is it has more calories than soda!!! So I cut out juice and went to my beautiful Arizona diet green tea. Good, but, like I said, I want to get rid of that artificial sweetener. So now I'm down to water.. that I'm not drinking.
I did buy some Truvia, which is a natural sweetener and does taste good. I need to remember to use it more often so I drink more. I have a game tonight, so it'll be interesting to see if I get dehydrated.
Also, I lost about pound, so I'm down to 213 after 4 days (about 8 lbs lost). Today thus far I've eaten a bit of a sandwich left over from my kiddos' dinner from yesterday, and one piece of pizza. Yesterday I spaced out a whole St. Louis Bread Co/Panera Bread sandwich over lunch and dinner, and ate another half of my kiddos' sandwich for my "late dinner."
