    Default Reaction Ball

My hand eye cooridnation and visual reading ability is awful and is 90% of the reason why I suck now and am a 4th string D3 goalie. So I ventured out and bought a reaction ball to help with this however, I have no idea how to effectively use this. Yes i can throw it off a wall and catch it but I'm sure theres a more effective and efficient way to utilize this thing.

    Reaction Ball - Fielding Trainer

Does anyone have any drills, videos, sites that are specific to goalie stuff, rather then fielding a ball from 100+ feet away?

Not to familial with those reaction balls. But try using the tennis ball juggling thing off of a wall in your house. . And just look up all kinds of videos how to improve your hand eye coordination on youtube.

Get in your crouch and just drop it in front take stabs it with your hand ie dont turn your palm up to catch it, you want to snap it out of the air, the Nike sparq one works best for that. Also is the most frustrating, the softer are good for throwing at the wall to yourself, but if your hand is as bad as you say it is just start with tennis balls. And for every hand drill you want to intensely focus on the ball watch it all the way into your hand. Look at it so hard so that you can start to see Wich way the seams are spinning

This is a video that I had posted in another thread about glove hand training, but may apply here as well. Just a short video of Brian Elliott before a game that I had seen during the playoffs. He does it with a tennis ball in the video, but I'm sure adding a reaction ball in there couldn't hurt either.

its not that i'm that bad, i'm just not as good as i want to be. i'm comparing myself to NCAA d1 goalies. My movement is on the faster side and my positioning is well I just have a harder time reading and reacting to shots, i dont know why it's starting now but I know I can do better. thanks for the replies guys!

Have you considered some eye training too? String and beads maybe for depth perception, and playing some tennis. Tennis is a good way to learn to track a moving object, it's more fun than standing my yourself dropping a reaction ball, and it's summer...

Great video, really puts tennis ball training in perspective. I figure if it is good for an NHL goalie it's good enough for me
